The ball is in their court if they want to climb out of last place in the Atlantic Division. While they may be missing starting goaltender Linus Ullmark due to personal reasons, their roster stacks up well against the Rangers, but they must do the work.

New York Rangers

The New York Rangers (20-21-6) are also struggling lately. They are riding a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) where they have been outscored 22-8. Like Ottawa, they’ve been bad over a long period of time, posting a 1-5-2 record since the NHL returned from Christmas break.

To make matters worse, they are missing two of their key players who lead the core. Defenceman Adam Fox and goaltender Igor Shesterkin are both on injured reserve, making things even tougher for this aging group with minimal confidence and no momentum.

This team is fragile and is showing no signs of life. A recent 10-2 loss to the Bruins last weekend speaks to this. Ottawa will come into this one hungry, fast, and physical, as they usually are, which could pose issues for New York.

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Senators vs. Rangers?

New York secured a 4-2 win when these teams met in December, but I expect a different result tonight. They have just snapped a gruelling four-game losing streak, and I believe that was the wakeup call they needed.
