The Raiders enter this contest as 3-point favourites with odds of -166 on the money line. The Dolphins sit at +140, while the total is listed at 40.5, which is among the lowest numbers on the NFL Week 1 odds board.
The low total makes sense, as these were two of the lowest-scoring teams in the NFL last season. Specifically, the Raiders ranked dead last in the NFL by scoring just 14.2 points per game, while the Dolphins weren’t much better at 25th with 20.4 points per contest.
Both teams are also entering new eras with new head coaches and new quarterbacks. With so many unknowns, seeing a high-scoring affair would be a bit surprising.

Brock Bowers has officially been ruled out for this contest after undergoing a meniscus trim procedure this week. That opens the door for Michael Mayer, who should see a steady number of targets.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are expected to be among the worst teams in the NFL this season. Their win total sits at 3.5, which is the lowest in the league. Jeff Hafley is entering his first season as an NFL head coach and it will be interesting to see how he navigates this campaign. The offense has a ton of new pieces and the defense is coming off a season in which it ranked 22nd in yards per game allowed (348.8), and 24th in points per game allowed (24.9).

The Raiders also underwent significant changes over the offseason, bringing in new head coach Klint Kubiak. Fernando Mendoza is the QB of the future, but Kirk Cousins is Las Vegas’ QB1 to start the season. The Raiders had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL last season, but the signing of C Tyler Linderbaum should lead to a better campaign. Las Vegas spent more than $260 million on the first day of free agency, particularly focusing on defense. They brought in LB Quay Walker, LB Nakobe Dean, DE Kwity Paye, CB Eric Stokes and DE Malcolm Koonce, while also trading for CB Taron Johnson.
