NFL Point Spreads Week 12: Best Picks Against the Spread
Football and turkey are a match made in heaven! Also, there will be no more bye weeks this season. Here’s a quick look at all the Week 12 matchups including their Sports Interaction NFL odds. Games Sunday unless noted.
Thursday Night Football Point Spreads
It’s the second year in a row these NFC North rivals face off on Thanksgiving. The Lions won on a field goal as time expired last year. Both come off wins Sunday, with Detroit escaping in Chicago 27-24 on a late Matt Prater field goal, and Minnesota winning its sixth in a row, 24-7 over the Rams.
Pick ATS: Detroit
The Chargers last played on Thanksgiving in 1969, which is the longest drought in the league and a year before the AFL and NFL even merged. L.A. comes off its most dominant effort of the season, a 54-24 rout of Buffalo. The Chargers picked off five Bills passes in the first half on the way to a 37-7 lead at intermission. Dallas has been without suspended star running back Ezekiel Elliott the past two games and has been blown out in each. It was 37-9 at home on Sunday night to the Eagles.
Pick ATS: Dallas
The NFL added a night game to Thanksgiving back in 2006. This will be the first time ever that Washington hosts a game on the holiday. It lost in Dallas last Thanksgiving. Washington totally gagged away what looked to be a sure win in New Orleans on Sunday, falling 34-31 in overtime. New York got just its second victory of the season, 12-9 in overtime over the heavily-favoured Chiefs.
Pick ATS: Washington
Sunday NFL Point Spreads
The Chiefs were double-digit favourites at the New York Giants but were upset coming out of their bye week, 12-9 in overtime. It was only the third loss in 19 career games off a bye for Coach Andy Reid. Bills coach Sean McDermott opted to give rookie Nathan Peterman his first NFL start Sunday at the Chargers, and it backfired spectacularly in a 54-24 loss as Peterman threw five first-half interceptions and was benched. Kansas City has won the past three in this series, most recently in 2015.
Pick ATS: Buffalo
The Colts come off their bye. The Titans saw their four-game winning streak come to a crashing halt in Pittsburgh on Thursday night, 40-17, their second loss this season by at least 23 points. Tennessee goes for the season sweep as it beat the Colts 36-22 in Nashville in Week 6 on a Monday night. Marcus Mariota hit Taywan Taylor on a 53-yard TD pass with 5:29 left for the winning points – then the Titans added on a Derrick Henry 72-yard garbage TD with less than a minute to go to kill Colts bettors who took the 7.5 points. Indy had won 11 straight in this series.
Pick ATS: Tennessee
Cleveland keeps finding new and inventive ways to keep losing as it fell 19-7 vs. the Jaguars on Sunday. The Browns had just 184 yards and five turnovers. Cincinnati ended a two-game slide with a 20-17 victory in Denver. Andy Dalton threw three TD passes. The Bengals have owned their northern Ohio neighbors for the past few years and that continued in Week 4 with a 31-7 Cincinnati victory. Dalton was 17 of 18 for 215 yards and three scores in the first half as the Bengals took a 21-0 lead into intermission.
Pick ATS: Cincinnati
The Falcons are on a short week after visiting Seattle on Monday. The Bucs won their second in a row following a five-game skid, 30-20 at Miami. Both victories have come behind backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, and he may start again with Jameis Winston still dealing with an injured shoulder. These NFC South rivals split last year, each winning on the road. This will be Tampa’s first look at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Pick ATS: TBA
The Dolphins committed a whopping 17 penalties and turned it over five times in a 30-20 home loss to Tampa Bay. QB Jay Cutler was picked off three times before leaving in the NFL’s concussion protocol. So it’s wait and see if Cutler plays this week, although he might have lost his job regardless to Matt Moore, who played much better than Cutler in relief. The Patriots won their sixth straight Sunday, 33-8 over the Raiders in Mexico City. Tom Brady was brilliant in completing 30 of 37 for 339 yards and three scores. New England has won the past eight at home against AFC East rival Miami. Brady missed last year’s game.
Pick ATS: Miami
Both teams come out of their bye week. Carolina is playing its best football of the season on a three-game winning streak and off a 45-21 wipeout of Miami on Monday night in Week 10. Cam Newton was terrific in throwing for 254 yards and four scores while rushing for 95 yards. Carolina had a team-record 548 yards. Newton is likely to get back Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen from injury this week. The Jets have dropped four of their past five.
Pick ATS: Carolina
It’s a quarterback matchup of the past two No. 2 overall picks in the NFL Draft in Philly’s Carson Wentz (2016) and Chicago’s Mitchell Trubisky. Wentz is 1-0 vs. the Bears, leading a 29-14 victory in Chicago early last season. The Bears lost their third in a row Sunday, 27-24 to Detroit. Connor Barth missed a potentially tying 46-yard field goal in the final seconds. He has struggled all season, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Bears held kicker tryouts this week. The Eagles trounced the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday night, 37-9 for their eighth consecutive win. They continue to have the NFL’s best record at 9-1 and already essentially have won the NFC East.
Pick ATS: Chicago
The 49ers are out of their bye and got their first win of the season in Week 10, 31-21 over the New York Giants. It’s thought that San Francisco will give quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, acquired from the Patriots at the end of last month, his first start here with the off week to prepare and learn the offense. Garoppolo hasn’t had meaningful NFL action since Week 2 of last season with New England. Seattle is on a short week as it hosted Atlanta on Monday. The Seahawks beat the Niners ugly in Week 2, 12-9.
Pick ATS: TBA
With both teams playing much better than expected, this game was flexed from a 1 p.m. ET start to 4:25 p.m. ET. They played last year in New Orleans, and the Saints won 49-21 behind 310 yards passing and four scores from Drew Brees. These Rams are light years better than that team. L.A. did have its four-game winning streak snapped Sunday in a 24-7 loss at Minnesota. The Saints had a miracle comeback win vs. the Redskins in overtime and have won eight in a row.
Pick ATS: Los Angeles
The Jags are in sole possession of first place in the AFC South following a 19-7 victory in Cleveland. That excellent Jacksonville defense forced five turnovers. Rookie Leonard Fournette rushed for 111 yards. He was questionable for the game with an ankle injury and appeared to tweak it during the game, so monitor his status. The Cardinals lost 31-21 in Houston. Third-string QB Blaine Gabbert got the start due to injuries and threw three TD passes but was picked off twice. Arizona might have No. 2 QB Drew Stanton back for this one.
Pick ATS: Arizona
The Broncos are a mess as they are on a six-game skid following Sunday’s 20-17 home loss to Cincinnati. It’s the franchise’s longest losing streak in 27 years. Look for Coach Vance Joseph to perhaps make a quarterback change this week. The Brock Osweiler experiment isn’t working. The Raiders came out of their bye week and laid an egg in Mexico City, losing 33-8 to New England. That Oakland defense has yet to pick off a pass this season. Denver goes for the season sweep as it beat the Raiders 16-10 in Week 4. Oakland QB Derek Carr was knocked out of the game with a back injury in the third quarter. Neither team reached 300 yards of offense.
Pick ATS: Oakland
Sunday Night Football Point Spreads
Matchup: Green Bay at Pittsburgh Sunday, November 26th 2017
Sunday night matchup between franchises that have combined for 13 Super Bowl appearances and 10 victories. The last time either team reached the game was against each other following the 2010 season. Pittsburgh has won five straight and routed a good Titans team 40-17 last Thursday night behind a season-high four TD passes from Ben Roethlisberger – three to Antonio Brown. Green Bay was beaten 23-0 at home by Baltimore, with the Packers turning it over five times. They just aren’t close to the same team without the injured Aaron Rodgers.
Pick ATS: Green Bay
Monday Night Football Point Spreads
Not quite the matchup that ESPN was hoping for when the MNF schedule was released. It’s only the 10th all-time meeting between the teams. Houston got its first win since QB Deshaun Watson went down with a season-ending injury, 31-21 over Arizona on Sunday. Rookie D’Onta Foreman rushed for two scores but left with an apparent serious injury in the fourth quarter. Baltimore took advantage of five Packers turnovers and won 23-0 in Green Bay.
Pick ATS: Baltimore
