The quirky schedule of the Atlanta Falcons takes another turn as reigning NFC champs begin a stretch of five divisional matchups in their final six games when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Falcons opened as 10-point favourites (+100) on the Sports Interaction NFL odds board with the total set at 49. SIA bettors seem split on this one with 55 percent leaning toward the Falcons giving the 10 points.

Atlanta has won and covered two games on the bounce with the last coming on Monday night at Seattle against the Seahawks. The Falcons are 6-4 straight up and 4-6 against the spread on the campaign with the under cashing in six of their 10 contests.

Tampa Bay won consecutive games for the first time this season after last week’s 30-20 victory at Miami. The Bucs are 2-0 SU and ATS since Ryan Fitzpatrick took over for injured starting quarterback Jameis Winston. TB is still just 3-6-1 ATS and 4-6 SU on the year.

The Falcons are 1-3 SU and ATS in their last four games against the Bucs but did win in the last meeting.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Fitzpatrick is holding the fort down for the Bucs at QB but the running game is what’s really holding back the offense. Tampa Bay has been outrushed by its opponents in all but three games this season and starting tailback Doug Martin is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry this season.

Third downs are killing the club on the defensive side of the ball. TB’s opponents are moving the chains 34.8 percent of the time on third and eight or longer situations – good for the worst in the NFL.

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta’s schedule is taking another strange turn. The club opened up with three games against the NFC North, then played three straight against the AFC East and now five of its last six games will be divisional battles.

Quarterback Matt Ryan had his streak of 64 games with at least 200 passing yards snapped on Monday but the defending league MVP is playing his best ball of the campaign. He’s tossed eight touchdown passes against two interceptions with 67 completion rate over the last four games.
