2026 World Cup Odds: Canada awaiting Group B opponents

Canada will compete in Group B at the upcoming 2026 World Cup and they’ll soon find out their opponents.

Here’s what you need to know.

World Cup draw

The 2026 FIFA World Cup draw is set to begin Friday, at 12 p.m. ET.

The tournament co-hosts, Canada, Mexico and the United States, have already been assigned groups. The draw will start with the rest of the teams from Pot 1 being sorted into groups, followed by Pot 2 then Pot 3 and finally Pot 4.

Here’s a complete breakdown of how the World Cup draw works.

Canada’s World Cup schedule

Canada’s first match of the tournament will come on June 12 at BMO Field in Toronto against whichever Pot 4 team is drawn into their group. The Canadian’s will then move their base to Vancouver where they will face their Pot 3 opponent June 18 and their Pot 2 opponent on June 24. Both Vancouver games will be played at BC Place.

Canada has never advanced past the group stage of the World Cup, but they have a great chance in 2025 as even a single win could be enough. The group winners, runners-up and eight best third-place finishers move on to the knockout round. Under the new 48-team format, the knockout round begins with a Round of 32.

Canada, currently ranked No. 27 in the FIFA World Rankings, is the lowest seeded team in Pot 1, followed by No. 15 Mexico and the No. 14 United States.

Canada is a +15,000 long shot to win the World Cup, while world No. 1 Spain is the tournament favourite at +400.
