NFL Betting Odds, Point Spread, Trends
The Patriots have emerged as slender 3.5-point home favourites on the NFL Week 5 odds. The Raiders trail as a +160 wager on the NFL moneyline and the total is listed at 45.
The Raiders escaped with a 20-13 win when they visited Foxborough in September of last year, extending their head-to-head SU and ATS win streak to three games, and have seen the UNDER pay out in their past two dates with New England, and five of their past seven clashes, with the total topping 41 just three times over that stretch.
The Raiders have emerged as one of the surprise stories of the season while matching their win total for all of last season during a 3-0 start. Las Vegas has fuelled their revival with an offensive attack that ranks eighth in the league with 115 total points scored, but the defence has shown cracks in the past two weeks after surrendering just 27 total points in their first two outings.
New England has covered four of its past five home games and five of its past seven following an ATS win. And the UNDER has cashed in four straight Patriots games played in Week 5.
NFL Player Odds and Props
Drake Maye is coming off a solid performance in Buffalo, but still offers the best value on the NFL player props as a -115 bet to toss for UNDER 227.5 passing yards after three straight dismal performances to start the season, and will face an aggressive Raiders pass defence that has consistently forced quarterbacks into hurried decisions. Maye has also been turnover-prone this season, making a high-volume passing script less desirable for New England.
Brock Bowers is still struggling with a knee injury that limited him at practice this week, but the Raiders tight end has performed when called upon, recording 202 receiving yards and two total TDs in his two appearances, and offers value as a -115 bet to go OVER 73.5 receiving yards on Sunday.
Las Vegas Raiders
Kirk Cousins has been one of the biggest reasons behind Las Vegas’ fast start. Cousins has thrown 11 touchdown passes through four games, tied for the league lead, and has recorded at least two in every game. Jackson Powers-Johnson and Folorunso Fatukasi were also upgraded to full participation, improving the outlook along the offensive and defensive lines.
Concerns remain among the receiving corps. Jalen Nailor missed practice again Thursday while remaining in concussion protocol, while Cody White and Trey Zuhn were limited. Dont’e Thornton Jr. continues working back from injured reserve.
New England Patriots
Drake Maye delivered his best performance of the season in Buffalo, throwing for 269 yards and three touchdowns while leading the game-winning fourth-quarter drive after connecting for just one TD against five picks through the first three games.
However, the injury situation around him is less encouraging. Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis III both missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, leaving New England potentially without its top two cornerbacks, while Karon Prunty also remained out with a hamstring injury. Mack Hollins missed a second straight practice because of a calf injury, while Rhamondre Stevenson remained limited with a knee issue.
