Spread
The Vikings have held the upper hand when facing the Saints, winning two straight and five of their past seven meetings, capped by a 27-19 home victory as 2.5-point underdogs in November 2023. However, the Saints have topped Minnesota in three of five clashes at the Superdome, including a slim 28-25 defeat in 2022 and a 26-20 overtime loss in January 2020.
Overall, the Vikings are 3-1 ATS during their 4-0 start and have won nine straight dating back to last year. The UNDER has cashed in three straight Vikings contests and in six consecutive games in which Minnesota has been favoured.
New Orleans is 1-3 SU and 2-2 ATS. The Saints are just 3-8 ATS in their past 11 home games and 3-9 ATS in their past 12 as a home underdog of three points or fewer.
NFL Player Odds and Props
Aaron Jones Sr. -115 odds on the NFL player props to compile OVER 72.5 rushing yards Is worth a look. Jones rushed for 94 yards last week against Miami, while New Orleans was gashed for 205 rushing yards and five touchdowns by Atlanta on Monday night, and Minnesota has every reason to keep leaning on the ground game while its defence continues to control games.
Tyler Shough is also available as a -115 bet to record UNDER 236.5 passing yards. Shough leads the NFL in pass attempts and completions but will face a Minnesota defence that has allowed only 51 points and four touchdowns through four games.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings’ have built their unblemished 4-0 record primarily on defence and special teams rather than explosive offence. Kyler Murray completed 73 per cent of pass attempts against Miami but finished with only 77 net passing yards as Minnesota won for the second time in three weeks without scoring a touchdown.
The receiving corps is trending in a better direction. Justin Jefferson remained limited Thursday but continues to work toward a return, while Jordan Addison improved to limited after missing Wednesday. Christian Darrisaw remains in concussion protocol and did not practice again Thursday, making his status considerably less encouraging.
Brian O’Neill is expected to play through his knee issue, while Brett Thorson practiced fully and appears ready to return at punter.
New Orleans Saints
Tyler Shough continues to produce passing yards even as the Saints struggle to convert those yards into points, and wins. Shough threw for 286 yards against Atlanta and has 1,203 passing yards through four games. He returned to full participation Thursday after being limited by a left-hand injury.
Alvin Kamara returned to limited participation Thursday after missing Wednesday because of a back injury, improving his chances of playing Sunday. Chris Olave was limited by a foot issue, while Noah Fant remained limited with an abdominal injury.
The larger concern remains the run defence. New Orleans surrendered 205 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns against Atlanta, and has now allowed 80 points over its past two games.
