Liverpool vs. Manchester City EPL Odds and Betting Trends

Manchester City may hold more recent success in the last decade, but throughout history and 230 total meetings, Liverpool boast 109 wins to City’s 63 (58 draws).

City has won the last three games straight, scoring nine goals against the Reds and registering two clean sheets. In the last five meetings, both teams to score has landed just once.

For this weekend’s skirmish, the Reds are slight home underdogs at +155 on the Premier League odds, while the Citizens are narrow +150 favourites and the draw is priced at +270.

Under 3.5 goals can be backed at -176, with the over on offer at +142.

Manchester City

Manchester City continue to maintain their perfect Premier League record with all 15 points under wraps as they lead the way in first place with 13 goals for, second only to Brighton.

In the last three games alone in all competitions, City has scored a whopping 11 goals, which included a 1-0 triumph over Manchester United.

Enzo Maresca’s main challenge here will be to manage his team minutes properly, as he’s got an abundance of injuries and suspensions on the roster, including Phil Foden, Antoine Semenyo, and Nico O’Reilly.

Erling Haaland should be ready for this one after overcoming a small issue while on international duty with Norway, but with City following up their battle against Liverpool with an immediate Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, squad rotation will be important.

Haaland leads the anytime goalscorer market at +110, having scored seven goals in his last five matches for City.

Liverpool

While the Reds haven’t lost a game this season, three of their EPL matchups ended in draws. They hold sixth place in the league after dropping six points throughout their games, although kicking off the new season undefeated with only four goals allowed, and a big 2-1 Champions League victory over Atletico, deserves some praise.

The side entered the international break on high morale after achieving a 1-0 win over Bournemouth courtesy of an Alexander Isak winner. Much to the dismay of Andoni Iraola, though, the Sweden international, along with Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo and Jeremy Jacquet, are all injured.

Gakpo and Isak’s unavailability is a blow, but the Reds still have the likes of Bradley Barcola, a summer arrival from Paris Saint-Germain, ready to earn his first EPL goal in a red shirt at +300 odds.

EPL Prediction: Who Will Win Liverpool vs. Manchester City?

With so many offensive injuries on both rosters, it’s hard to tell which one has the clear advantage, especially with City in better current form, but Liverpool at Anfield.

So far, Liverpool have done a great job replacing Ekitike’s threat up top with Isak, but the Swede isn’t available for this contest and the hosts will have to rely on the talents of Florian Wirtz, Barcola, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

Haaland is more likely to play than not for City, but Semenyo won’t be an option. Even so, the visitors have always found a way to score, doing so 13 times this season.

All in all, we may be looking at a 1-1 or 2-2 draw scenario, with City’s first-place run on the line and Liverpool’s desire to break into the top four setting up for an even chess match in this weekend’s brawl.
