Patriots vs. Saints Point Spread: NFL Week 6 Odds, Prediction

The New England Patriots look to build on last week’s stunning 23-20 upset win in Buffalo when they travel to the Big Easy for Sunday afternoon’s date with the New Orleans Saints.

With last week’s victory, the Patriots now ride their first two-game win streak on the road since 2023, and have moved to within one game of the Bills in the race for top spot in the AFC East.

The Saints slammed the brakes on an eight-game losing streak with last week’s 26-14 win over the New York Giants while extending their current against the spread win streak to three games.

The Patriots lead the way as 3.5-point road favourites on the NFL Week 6 odds. The Saints trail as +155 underdogs on the NFL moneyline, and the total is listed at 46.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Patriots will make their appearance at Caesars Superdome riding a two-game losing streak versus the Saints but have enjoyed historical success when visiting New Orleans, posting outright victories in five of six all-time meetings.

However, it is the Saints who have regularly paid out on the NFL odds when these two teams meet, covering the spread in nine of 12 clashes since 1983 including a trio of outright victories as betting underdogs. New Orleans has also rewarded loyal NFL betting fans with ATS wins in their past two contests, and have won outright in five of its past nine while pegged as underdogs by three or fewer points.

SU and ATS winners in three of four overall, the Patriots have been buoyed by a stingy defence that has surrendered just 18 points per game over their past three contests. Now pegged as a vastly improved -210 bet on the NFL futures to make the playoffs, the Pats have also been a steady bet when perched as road chalk, going 8-2 SU and 6-3-1 ATS in their past 10 overall, and have seen the total go UNDER in their past six when favoured by three of fewer points on the road.

New England Patriots

The Patriots have quickly emerged as playoff contenders during a respectable 3-2 start and much of the credit must go to quarterback Drake Maye. The third overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Maye has been a model of consistency while completing 73.9 per cent of pass attempts and has racked up 1,261 passing yards, fifth-best in the league, while connecting on seven scoring passes.

Maye has quickly developed chemistry with veteran receiver Stefon Diggs, who piled up 146 receiving yards versus his former Bills teammates last week. Diggs has pulled in an impressive 29 of 34 total targets this season and topped 100 yards in each of the past two games.

Considering the Saints have surrendered at least two TD passes in all five games to date, Diggs offers solid value on the NFL player props as a +105 bet to make his first scoring catch of the season. However, Maye could benefit from more help from his offensive line, which has allowed him to be sacked 17 times so far this season.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints found themselves facing an early deficit for the fifth time in as many games in last last week’s date with the Giants. Indeed, slow starts have emerged as a massive concern for this squad, which has been outscored by a wide 51-10 margin in first-quarter action during their 1-4 start.

Even with last week’s win, the Saints remaining one of the lowest scoring teams in the NFL, averaging just 18.4 points per game. And with their offensive depth decimated by injuries, keeping pace with an improved Pats squad will be a mountain to climb.

While the Saints ground game has generated at least 100 yards in three of their first five games, it has produced just one TD in the past four games, and could be further limited by the uncertain status of veteran rusher Alvin Kamara, who reportedly suffered an ankle injury at practice this week.
