Fever vs. Tempo WNBA Betting Odds, Picks: Toronto opens as massive home underdog
Indiana returns from the FIBA Women’s World Cup break Friday night with a road matchup against Toronto at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
The Fever are 26-14, have clinched a playoff berth and remain in the race for first-round home-court advantage. Toronto sits 11-29, has been eliminated and has lost four straight and 16 of its last 17.
Indiana also owns a 2-0 season-series edge, winning 113-91 in June and 101-95 in August. The rematch looks tougher for Toronto with Marina Mabrey, Brittney Sykes and Aneesah Morrow all out for the season.
The Fever are massive 14.5-point favourites to win on the WNBA odds, with the total pegged at 187.5.
Indiana Fever vs. Toronto Tempo WNBA Odds and Betting Trends
Indiana owns the third-best net rating in the WNBA, while Toronto ranks 14th among 15 teams.
The Fever also lead the league in pace, effective field-goal percentage and three-point shooting at 39.5 per cent.
Toronto’s defence has struggled to limit those exact strengths. The Tempo rank 14th in opponent three-point attempts allowed and last in second-chance points surrendered, creating a difficult matchup against Indiana’s high-volume perimeter attack and strong rebounding profile.
Indiana Fever
Indiana enters the stretch run with one of the league’s deepest offensive cores.
Kelsey Mitchell averages 25.0 points per game, Caitlin Clark contributes 22.5 points and 8.4 assists, and Aliyah Boston gives the Fever a dependable interior option at 16.9 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Indiana ranks fifth in offensive rebounding and sixth on the defensive glass, another advantage against Toronto.
Clark’s playmaking should also create plenty of open perimeter looks. She had 14 assists in the first meeting, while Mitchell scored 29 in August.
With Toronto short-handed, Indiana should be able to attack both inside and out.
Toronto Tempo
Toronto’s injury situation has dramatically changed its outlook.
Mabrey, the team’s leading scorer at 20.8 points per game, is out for the season with an adductor injury, while Sykes and Morrow are also unavailable.
That places significantly more responsibility on Kiki Rice, Isabelle Harrison and Nyara Sabally.
Rice averages 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists, while Harrison and Sabally each provide some interior scoring.
The larger concern is defence. Toronto ranks 14th in defensive rebounding and has allowed too many second-chance opportunities, which could be costly against a Fever team that shoots plenty of threes and creates long rebounds.
WNBA Prediction: Who Will Win Indiana Fever vs. Toronto Tempo?
Indiana is simply better positioned across the board.
The Fever play faster, shoot more efficiently, rebound better and have far more healthy shot creation. Toronto kept the August meeting close, but that result came before losing several of its most important offensive players.
The Tempo may struggle to keep pace for four quarters, particularly if Indiana’s three-point shooting creates an early gap.
Toronto’s home crowd should help initially, but the Fever’s depth and offensive efficiency should produce separation as the game progresses.
Best Bet: Indiana Fever -12.5 (-115)
Final Score Prediction: Fever 102, Tempo 82
