The Las Vegas Raiders and Indianapolis Colts hit the field at Lucas Oil Stadium and will look to earn an all-important win. Both teams are coming off a loss and will have their sights on a big win. We know the Raiders (1-3) are a rebuilding franchise, but they have many pieces in place to compete. Meanwhile, the jury is still out on these Colts (3-1), who have had an excellent start to the season.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Coming into this Week 5 game, the Indianapolis Colts are an impressive 3-1 against the spread, while the Las Vegas Raiders are a poor 1-3 ATS. This matches their overall records.
When it comes to game totals, both teams are 2-2 on the over/under. So far Indianapolis has received a fair amount of public support, with the Colts now seven-point favourites on the NFL odds board after they opened at -6.
Las Vegas Raiders
We are four weeks into the season, and at this point, the Raiders are who they seem to be. They have played four teams that they likely could have beaten, but they have only won once and are on a three-game losing streak. They are now on the road against a hungry Colts team that has looked far superior.
On the bright side, rookie running back Ashton Jeanty has arrived. After averaging 3.1 yards per carry in his first three games, he exploded against the Chicago Bears for 155 total yards and three touchdowns.
To win this game, the Raiders will need to lean heavily on their stars like Jeanty, tight end Brock Bowers and defensive end Maxx Crosby. Alternatively, quarterback Geno Smith will need to protect the ball, as he now has seven interceptions on the year.
Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts’ red-hot and surprising start took a step back after a tight Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on the road. At 3-1, they now share the lead for the AFC South. The Colts are 2-0 at Lucas Oil Stadium and will look to maintain their strong level of play in front of their home crowd as they look to maintain momentum.
Indianapolis has proven to be an extremely balanced team thus far. The team ranks fourth in passing yards (1,078), eighth in rushing yards (545), sixth in sacks (10) and fourth in interceptions (4). Starting the season with a 4-1 record would be huge for this team given they entered the season with minimal expectations.
Who Will Win Raiders vs. Colts?
Both teams are healthy and should be highly motivated, but there is a clear better team in this matchup. The Raiders should be hungry after narrowly missing out on earning their second win of the season in last week’s 25-24 loss to the Bears. However, the Colts have looked strong on both sides of the ball, boast home advantage and have multiple big-time NFL players throughout the lineup. With that in mind, I expect Indianapolis to prevail 27-17.
