49ers vs. Chiefs Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction
Patrick Mahomes is the biggest story in the NFL heading into Week 3. The second-year quarterback looks to add to his record-breaking total for touchdown passes when the Kansas City Chiefs host Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
This is the highest total on the board for Week 3. Sports Interaction opened with the Over/Under set at 55.5 but the number has gone up to 56.5 since. Kansas City is chiefly responsible for the big number.
KC is averaging a league-best 40 points per game and allowing league-worst 508 yards per contest. The Over is 4-1 in the Chiefs’ last five games in the month of September, but the Under is 45-19 in their last 64 home games.
Kansas City is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven games overall and 15-5-1 ATS in its last 21 Week 3 matchups. The Chiefs are coming off a 42-37 win at Pittsburgh as 4.5-point underdogs and are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games when getting points.
The Niners nearly squandered a 14-point, fourth-quarter lead but held on to beat the Detroit Lions 30-27. San Fran failed to cover as 6-point home favourites and is 0-2 against the spread heading into the weekend.
The 49ers are 6-14-1 ATS in their last 21 games versus teams with winning records and the Over is 4-1 in their last five contests overall.

The Niners know they got away with one last weekend against Detroit. A late Lions interception with the 49ers clinging to a three-point lead was overturned because of a defensive holding call against a Detroit defender away from the play.
The Lions would have had the ball at the San Fran 7-yard line and a great chance to steal the lead from the 49ers last in the fourth quarter. Jimmy GQ was supposed to be the man lifted the Niners in his second season, but there still seems to be some growing pains in Year 2 of Kyle Shanahan’s reign in the Bay Area.

How good has Patrick Mahomes been so far this season? How about this: He had more touchdown passes (six) than incomplete passes (five) against the Steelers on Sunday. NFL fantasy football fans knew there was a good chance Mahomes would take off in place of former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, but no one could have expected this kind of production.
