USA FIFA World Cup Odds and News
The USA is up to 16th in the world with its four wins in this tournament but will be without arguably its most important offensive player Monday in striker Folarin Balogun due to a one-match suspension. He was sent off with a controversial red card in the Americans’ 2-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina in the Round of 32 last Wednesday.
Balogun had the game’s opening goal and leads the U.S. with three in the tournament. No one else has more than one goal, so it’s a major, major loss.
USA manager Mauricio Pochettino has a few options to replace him in the starting XI, but it likely will be Ricardo Pepi. He started alongside Balogun in the 2-0 group stage win over Australia and also started in the 3-2 loss to Turkey.
But Pepi has scored only a single goal for his country over the past 16 months. Team USA’s win over Bosnia ended a 10-game losing streak to European foes and was the Americans’ first win against one in the World Cup since the 2002 group stage vs. Portugal.
Update:
FIFA announced on Sunday that Balogun’s one-game ban has been suspended and he will be available to play against Belgium.
Belgium FIFA World Cup Odds and News
Belgium is ranked No. 9 in the world, but it’s considered to be the tail end of one of the country’s great soccer runs with veteran stars like Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and keeper Thibaut Courtois all likely in their final World Cup. Lukaku, Youri Tielemans and Leandro Trossard lead the club with two goals each in this tournament.
Belgium advanced with a truly wild 3-2 win over Senegal last Wednesday, rallying from down 2-0 in the 85th minute on goals from Lukaku (86th minute) and Tielemans (89th) to tie and then Tielemans winning it on a penalty in added time at the end of extra time. Probably the match of the tournament thus far.
This is a rematch of a Round of 16 meeting between Belgium and the USA from the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, with Belgium winning 2-1 in extra time – the goals coming from de Bruyne (93rd minute) and Lukaku (105th minute). USA keeper Tim Howard (now retired) set the still active World Cup record for saves in a match with 16.
USA vs. Belgium Player Odds and Props
Both teams to not score at +140. Christian Pulisic (he needs to be the main guy stepping up with Balogun out) for three shots at -105.
FIFA World Cup 2026 Bracket and Futures
To win the World Cup, the USA is +3200 and Belgium +5000. Can’t say I see either of those happening. To reach the final, which I also don’t see because I believe this winner then loses to Spain in the quarters obviously assuming La Roja take care of business Monday, the United States is +1300 and Belgium +1800.
United States vs. Belgium Score Prediction
My favourite play would be Belgium draw no bet at -110 but if have to give a score prediction will go 1-0 for the visitors.
