Blue Bombers vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction: CFL Week 5 Point Spread, Odds
The Ti-Cats opened their current 2-0-0 surge with a 37-27 win in Winnipeg in Week 2 and enjoyed a bye last weekend in the wake of their 41-27 victory over BC in Week 3. The Bombers are coming off a 23-18 loss to Edmonton last week, marking their second straight defeat, but were victorious in their lone road date this season, a narrow 30-28 win in Calgary that kicked off their schedule.
The Tiger-Cats lead the way as 3.5-point favourites on the CFL odds. The Blue Bombers trail as +155 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is listed at 57.5.
CFL Week 5 Odds and Betting
The Tiger-Cats will be aiming to tally consecutive wins over Winnipeg for the first time since 2019, going 4-6-0 over that stretch, but have taken five of six from the Blue Bomers on home turf. Hamilton has also been a steady bet when hosting the Blue Bombers, going 5-1 against the spread during their 5-1-0 head-to-head run on home turf. The Ti-Cats’ win in Winnipeg last month paid out for totals bettors taking the OVER, snapping a steady 4-0 run for the UNDER when these teams meet. First-place finishers in the CFL East last season, the Ti-Cats are perched among the favourites as a +550 bet on the Grey Cup odds while the Blue Bombers sit well off the pace at +1100.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Blue Bombers have enjoyed a couple extra days off after their Thursday night date with the Elks in Week 4, and will be hoping the additional rest will help spark a spotty offence that has scored an average of just 25 points per game, dead last in the CFL. An anemic passing game at times has not helped matters, with the Bombers recording a CFL-worst five passing touchdowns to date. However, pivot Zach Collaros showed signs of turning things around last time out, connecting on a pair of scoring tosses. Brady Oliveira remains the go-to guy in the Winnipeg backfield. Oliveira has topped 1000 rushing yards in each of the past five seasons and his 77-yard performance versus the Elks brings his season total to 222 yards through three games.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Bo Levi Mitchell continues to defy Father Time while leading the Ti-Cats to a high-scoring 2-1-0 start. Mitchell lit up the Lions for 285 yards and five TD passes in their decisive 41-27 win two weeks ago, and has now amassed eight TDs and 879 passing yards through three outings. The 36-year-old was equally prolific in the squad’s visit to Winnipeg last month, connecting for 297 yards and three scores. Kiondre Smith has emerged as Mitchell’s favourite target, making three scoring catches while compiling 239 receiving yards, with his best performance of the season coming in Winnipeg, where he recorded 92 yards and two TDs.
