The Cowboys finished the season ranked third in the nation at 46.3 points per game, and are being given a slight boost by oddsmakers on a neutral field against a Hokies defence that limited opponents to a minuscule 13.5 points per contest.

But the Cowboys are giving away more than a field goal in this one by virtue of their incredible 575.7 yards per game, behind only rival Oklahoma among FBS schools. But the Sooners haven’t been able to match up against better competition, covering just once in their last five games against teams with winning records. The Hokies are 5-2 ATS in their last seven following a victory.
Offence is often where the majority of bettors lean in matchups like this – and the Camping World Bowl is no exception, with 87 percent of Sports Interaction wagerers taking the Cowboys. The chasm is even bigger on the totals side, with 89 percent projecting this one to go over the 63-point total. The Hokies have gone below the total in six straight games vs. teams with winning records, while the Cowboys are 5-0 O/U in their past five games.
Virginia Tech Hokies
Any team that allows just 24 total points in its last four wins of the regular season should be taken seriously. But a two-game lull in which Virginia Tech surrendered 28 points apiece in losses to Miami and Georgia Tech is enough for bettors to lose their faith in the Hokies. It doesn’t help, either, that quarterback Josh Jackson threw just eight touchdown passes over his final eight games after racking up 11 over his first four contests of the 2017 season.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Somehow, the Texas Longhorns held Mason Rudolph to 282 passing yards and zero TDs in the Cowboys’ 13-10 overtime win Oct. 21. Since then, the sensational quarterback has been a man possessed, throwing for 16 touchdowns in five games while going over the 400-yard plateau three times over that span. He also added three rushing scores in that stretch, and finished with an unbelievable 45 touchdowns (35 passing, 10 rushing) on the season.
