Autonation Cure Bowl: 2017 College Football Bowl Odds, Prediction
No one would ever accuse Georgia State or Western Kentucky of belonging with the big boys in college football but that doesn’t mean this early bowl matchup won’t be entertaining. These two sides excel at slinging the pigskin around the park and should put that skill on display on Saturday night in Orlando.
Panthers vs. Hilltoppers Spread and Betting Analysis
Western Kentucky ended the season 6-6 straight up and 3-9 against the spread with a 6-6 over/under record.
Georgia State was held to 10 or fewer points in five of its 11 regular season games. The Panthers failed to cover the spread in any of their last four contests and finished the year 6-5 SU and 4-7 ATS. The under went 8-3 in their games including five of their last six games.
Nearly 90 percent of Sports Interaction bettors are backing the Hilltoppers to cover as 7-point favourites while 86 percent expect the game to go over the 53.5-point over/under line.
Georgia State Panthers
The Panthers only played 11 games because their game against Memphis was cancelled in the first month of the season due to Hurricane Irma. Five of Georgia State’s six wins came against teams that finished with a combined 15 wins.
Keep an eye on Georgia State receiver Penny Hart. The junior caught 73 balls for 1094 yards and found the end zone eight times. He missed most of last season because of injuries but put up equally impressive numbers in his freshman year. There’s a chance bettors could see this player on the field on Sundays next year.
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
The Hilltoppers offense is predictable. They own a top 10 passing attack in the country and finished as the worst rushing team in the sport after averaging just 63.9 yards on the ground per game.
Western Kentucky is led by quarterback Mike Hill who did well to toss for 3826 yards and 24 TDs against just seven interceptions considering opposing defences didn’t have to worry about an attack coming on the ground.
