Jets vs. Lions Week 3 Betting Odds, Prediction and Picks: Aaron Glenn Returns to Detroit

Two teams off to 1-1 starts are set to meet on Sunday when the New York Jets visit the Detroit Lions.

This matchup brings Jets head coach Aaron Glenn back to the Motor City, where he spent three seasons as the Lions’ defensive coordinator prior to taking up his current role.

The Jets defeated the Titans 23-10 in Week 1 and then fell to the Packers in overtime 20-17 last week. It was a game New York controlled, but ultimately saw a 10-point fourth-quarter lead disappear before losing in overtime.

The Lions have also played an overtime game early on this season, as they won a thrilling 31-30 contest against the Saints in Week 1. Detroit then played Buffalo on Thursday night in Week 2 and lost 41-31 in a game that was never really in doubt.

The Lions won the most recent meeting between these teams 20-17 in New York back on December 18, 2022.

Jets vs. Lions Kickoff, Weather, TV, Streaming Info

In Canada, Jets vs. Lions kicks off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET and is available to stream nationwide on DAZN through NFL Game Pass. Select Sunday afternoon games are also available on CTV depending on regional coverage.

Ford Field is a domed stadium, so any worrisome weather conditions won’t be an issue.

NFL Betting Odds, Point Spread, Trends

The Lions find themselves as 6.5-point favourites in this Week 3 contest. When it comes to the moneyline, Detroit has odds of -350 while New York is priced at +230 to pull off the upset. The total is listed at 47.5 points.

After playing in Buffalo last Thursday, the Lions have had a few extra days to prepare for this matchup. That could come in handy, as Detroit has played two high-intensity games that produced a roller coaster of emotions through the first two weeks of the season.

Jared Goff is off to a roaring start, as he’s completed 67.5% of his passes for 533 yards and six touchdowns without any interceptions.

Detroit’s other stars are shining as well, with Amon-Ra St. Brown hauling in 19 catches for 209 yards and four touchdowns while Jahmyr Gibbs has accounted for 299 total yards and three touchdowns.

New York is in Year 2 of the Glenn era, and is looking to put forth a much better season than last year’s 3-14 campaign.

The Jets brought back veteran QB Geno Smith in the offseason, and he has completed over 70% of his passes for 462 yards through two games.

Breece Hall is off and running in 2026, as he’s collected 131 rushing yards and a touchdown. Garrett Wilson is New York’s leading receiver with 11 catches for 136 yards and a touchdown.

NFL Player Odds and Props

Garrett Wilson 60+ receiving yards (-123)

Garrett Wilson and Geno Smith have formed a strong connection through two games this season. Wilson leads New York with 11 catches and 136 receiving yards, and he is the only Jets pass-catcher to score a touchdown. He is also tied for the team-lead with 14 targets. In a game where the Jets may be playing from behind and forced to throw, Wilson could be in for another strong day.

Jared Goff Under 258.5 passing yards (-114)

Jared Goff’s passing yards total is set at 256.5 for this contest and that may be a bit too high.

Goff cleared this number last week by throwing for 327 yards, but the Lions were playing from behind all game long and needed to throw often trying to keep up.

As 6.5-point favourites, there’s a chance Detroit is playing from in front this week, and thus, won’t take too many chances down the field.

Plus, as Detroit’s former defensive coordinator, Glenn could have some effective schemes to tackle Goff and company.

New York Jets

The Jets should really be 2-0. Going up against a Tennessee team that is expected to be among the worst in the NFL this season, the Jets took care of business in Week 1 by out-gaining the Titans 367-195.

New York then held a 17-7 lead in the fourth quarter last week against Green Bay, but couldn’t come up with timely stops down the stretch and ultimately lost 20-17 in overtime.

Looking to bounce back, things won’t get any easier for the Jets as they hit the road to face a tough Lions team coming off a lopsided loss on national television.

Detroit Lions

The Lions entered the 2026 season as legitimate Super Bowl contenders. That is still the case, but Detroit has looked extremely shaky through two games.

Dan Campbell’s squad escaped by the skin of their teeth in Week 1 against New Orleans, but were vastly out-played in Week 2 by Buffalo.

Those are two tough opponents to begin the season, but if the Lions want to be a serious contender, they need to start finding some consistency on both sides of the ball before these early-season struggles become an unfortunate trend.
