2026 Farmers Insurance Open: PGA Tour Golf Betting Odds

Xander Schauffele is favoured on the Farmers Insurance golf odds but the big news is the return of Brooks Koepka.

The rest of the field actually has a chance this week because utterly dominant world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is not playing after winning yet again Sunday at the American Express outside Palm Springs. We should see Scheffler next week outside Phoenix.

A handful of weeks ago, it was announced that American and five-time major champion Koepka was returning to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf, which he left late in 2025 for family reasons. The PGA Tour’s new Returning Member Program allows LIV golfers who have been away from the PGA Tour for at least two years — and who won the Players Championship or one of the four majors since 2022 — to return to the PGA Tour under certain conditions and with severe financial penalties.

Koepka donated $5 million to charity as part of his return and agreed to forfeit any player equity shares for the next five years and won’t be eligible for the $100 million FedEx Cup bonus program this year. He probably loses out on somewhere between $50 million and $85 million (US) overall.

That program closes Feb. 2 and golfers who seek to rejoin the PGA Tour must commit to play in at least 15 co-sponsored or approved events during the 2026 season. Koepka has made the cut just once in this tournament in five visits but was T4 in the 2021 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines and is +5000 for is first Tour win since the 2023 PGA Championship. ESPN is having live coverage on Thursday and Friday afternoon largely because of Koepka.

In past years, this event had been opposite the AFC and NFC Championship Games in the NFL and thus would be played Wednesday-Sunday, but that’s not the case this year as those NFL games were last weekend.

The defending champion is American Harris English, who finished at 8-under 280 and a shot up on Sam Stevens  — we simply recommended USA player to win in 2025. It marked the first time that single-digits under par won the tournament since 2016. English struggled to a final-round 73 in challenging weather conditions for his fifth Tour win, and he hasn’t won since.

Harris is +2700 this week, and the last repeat winner in the event was Tiger Woods in 2008. Stevens began the final round six shots off the lead, but surged into contention with a 68 that was the best score by anyone.

Players competed on three courses last week and will do so on two at Torrey Pines: The South Course is the main and is a par 72 at 7,765 yards, while the North is also a par 72 at 7,258 yards. Golfers play a round on each ahead of the 36-hole cut and then just the South on the weekend.

World No. 6 and former major winner Xander Schauffele is the highest-ranked player in the field and the +1400 favourite in his 2026 debut. The American had a very disappointing 2025 but did win his final event of the year, the Baycurrent Classic in October. Schauffele was runner-up in this event in 2021 and didn’t play in 2025 due to injury.

Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg (+1800) withdrew after two rounds last week with an illness but will try and give it a go this week. While Aberg has a best result of ninth in this tournament, he won the 2025 Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines – it was moved there for just last year due to the California wildfires.

Patrick Cantlay (+2000), Cameron Young (+2200), Hideki Matsuyama (+2500) and Si Woo Kim (+2500) round out the favourites. Young makes his 2026 debut and has a best of 20th in the tournament. I liked Cantlay last week, and he finished T13. He hasn’t contended here. Matsuyama has a couple of Top 10s at Torrey Pines, while Kim has been sixth and 11th the first two events of 2026. The South Korean doesn’t have a great track record in San Diego.

No Canadian has won this event.  Al Balding finished runner-up to Arnold Palmer twice, and Graham DeLaet was second in 2014 with four others. Taylor Pendrith was T7 last year, with Adam Svensson and Ben Silverman missing the cut. Pendrith is +4000 this week with Mackenzie Hughes +15000 and Svensson +35000.

Farmers Insurance Open Golf Predictions

Tony Finau seems like great value at +12500. The American had a terrible 2025 and has missed the cut in his first two 2026 events, but he has several Top 10s at Torrey, including a runner-up. We expect another American winner regardless.
