Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees: Odds, Prediction

The Toronto Blue Jays play their 11th straight game against an AL East opponent on Friday night when they open a series in the Bronx vs. the Yankees. Behind AL Cy Young favourite Cam Schlittler, New York is a huge -230 favourite on the MLB odds with a total of seven runs.

MLB Betting Odds and Trends

Following this run of games inside the AL East Division on Sunday, in which the Blue Jays have been faring quite well, Toronto has six games left vs. AL East opponents in 2026 and all against Baltimore.

The Yankees probably are not catching Tampa Bay for first in the division but will be either the No. 1 or No. 2 AL Wild-Card club. Getting the top spot is huge because that means the series is at home. We almost surely are looking at Yankees-Red Sox in one AL WC Round set, it’s just a matter of which team gets to host it. Toronto’s only shot is the No. 3 spot.

New York is still not close to healthy with superstar Aaron Judge, All-Star Cody Bellinger and former NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton on the injured list. It’s possible Bellinger could return by Sunday’s finale. The Jays caught another break in that ace lefty Max Fried landed on the IL this week, so they will miss him.

It’s an utter shame Friday that the two AL Cy Young favourites in the Yankees’ Cam Schlittler and Jays’ Dylan Cease could have duelled in this set, but only Schlittler goes and Cease is scheduled for Saturday. This concludes the season series with it tied 5-5. They have also split four at Yankee Stadium.

Toronto Blue Jays

Yet another impressive series win for Toronto on Thursday thanks to a 5-1 upset at Tampa Bay; the team has now won seven consecutive series. In that set vs. the Rays, the Blue Jays had 38 hits — most in any three-game span this season.

The Jays hit three more homers Thursday and had seven in the series after entering with only six in the previous six games. Shortstop Andrés Giménez left the game in the fourth inning after suffering right hamstring tightness while running out a ground ball, so he may sit Friday.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is targeting a return from the seven-day concussion list for Saturday’s game barring any setbacks as that’s when he is first eligible.

Friday will be a bullpen-type game that will be started by lefty Mason Fluharty (5-1, 3.71 ERA) but likely only for an inning. It would be Toronto’s 13th bullpen game this season, and the club is 9-3 when doing so.

New York Yankees

New York has followed a three-game skid with four wins in a row – and those were all away and started with last Sunday’s extra-inning victory at Rogers Centre. The Yanks then swept three in Baltimore.

Their bullpen is fully ready Friday at the back end. Closer David Bednar has a 0.76 ERA with five wins and 18 saves over his past 31 appearances, and batters are hitting only .110 off him in that span. New York is 36-28 in games decided by two runs or fewer and has won 16 of the past 24.

Right-hander Cam Schlittler (10-6), the -165 favourite for the AL Cy Young, takes the mound Friday. That record might not scream Cy Young, but he’s among MLB leaders in ERA (2.19), WHIP (0.94) and strikeouts (189).

Schlittler is winless in his past four due to lack of run support. He took a no-decision in Toronto last Saturday, allowing a run over 5.1 innings. Overall, he is 0-1 with a 1.96 ERA in three starts this year vs. the Jays.
