It’s an important matchup in the West Division in the standalone Friday night game in Week 12 of the CFL season as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit first-place Edmonton. The Elks are 5.5-point favourites on the CFL odds with a total of 59.5 that is the lowest of the week.

CFL Odds and Betting

Very possible that Friday night’s matchup determines the eventual CFL West Division champion with Edmonton atop at 7-3 and Winnipeg third at 5-4, but obviously having played one fewer game. In between those two is 6-3 Saskatchewan. On the updated odds to win the Grey Cup entering Week 12, the Elks are +460 and the Blue Bombers +1500.

Not a huge surprise that this has the lowest game total of the week as Edmonton leads the CFL in scoring defence (26.0 PPG), while Winnipeg is third-from-last in scoring offence (26.3 PPG).

Friday is the second of three regular-season meetings with the clubs returning to Edmonton in Week 20. In Week 4 at Winnipeg, the Elks were 3.5-point underdogs (total was 56.5) and it was very low-scoring 23-18 Edmonton win. Only a few games league-wide have seen fewer total points in 2026.

Edmonton blew a 17-point lead and was trailing by a point until Cody Fajardo found TJ Luther with an eight-yard touchdown pass with 53 seconds left. Winnipeg’s last drive ended at Edmonton’s 11-yard line as time expired. The Elks had converted two of three Blue Bombers fumbles into 10 points to lead 17-0 midway through the second quarter.

Winnipeg has now dropped back-to-back in the series after winning the previous 13.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Last Friday, Winnipeg was a 7.5-point home favourite vs. winless Ottawa and covered in the 33-21 victory to snap a two-game overall and home skid. Blue Bombers QB Zach Collaros played for the first time since Week 5 off injury and was a bit rusty in throwing for only 222 yards and no TDs while being sacked four times.

Tailback Brady Oliveira had 74 yards rushing with a TD and 80 yards on a season-high eight catches after just one catch each of the previous five games. He was a game-time call with an ankle injury and might be the same Friday.

The week prior in a loss to the B.C. Lions, the Bombers surrendered an incredible 377 yards rushing but held Ottawa to 27 rushing yards on eight carries.

Sergio Castillo’s 56-yard field goal was the 41st of at least 50 yards of his career for most in league history and passing Blue Bomber Troy Westwood, the club’s all-time leading scorer. The under is 5-1 in Winnipeg’s past six vs. teams with a winning record.

Edmonton Elks

Edmonton was -3.5 at home last Saturday and played its best game of the season in destroying Toronto, 42-12, to improve to 4-1 at home and snap a two-game skid.

Tailback Justin Rankin had 108 yards from scrimmage with a touchdown. He had been held to fewer than 80 combined yards in each of the last four games and one total TD.

Cody Fajardo was incredibly accurate in completing 25 of 31 (80.6 per cent) with a touchdown and a career-best 44-yard rush.

But the defence was the story as it forced six Argonauts turnovers in the second half and those led directly to 27 points. That unit forced two fumbles, two turnovers on downs and had two interceptions, one a pick-six by cornerback J.J. Ross. He had both picks (first career multi-INT game), a forced fumble and four tackles.

Ross and Fajardo were named Week 11 Players of the Week in the league. Edmonton leads the CFL entering Week 12 in picks (16), turnovers forced (31), points off turnovers (103) and turnover ratio (+15). The Elks have won nine straight games when leading after three quarters. The under is 11-1 in their past 12 at home.
