It feels like the 2026 FIFA World Cup finished yesterday, but players are back at their respective clubs, and major European leagues are already back underway. The English Premier League is the most popular league in Europe, and the festivities will return this Friday, August 21, as reigning champions, Arsenal, host newly promoted Coventry City. The action will continue with a full slate on Saturday and Sunday before Fulham vs. Chelsea conclude Matchweek 1 on Monday.

Can Mikel Arteta’s men repeat as champions, or will a new team take the Premier League crown?

2026-27 English Premier League futures odds

Oddsmakers have pegged Arsenal as the EPL favourites entering the season, but here’s how the rest of the back ranks in terms of winning the EPL or finishing in the top four, which guarantees a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season:

  • Arsenal: +115 | -1300
  • Manchester City: +280 | -600
  • Liverpool: +550 | -180
  • Chelsea: +750 | -125
  • Manchester United: +800 | -110
  • Tottenham: +2700 | +300
  • Aston Villa: +4000 | +500
  • Brighton: +12500 | +1100
  • Newcastle: +17500 | +1500
  • Everton: +35000 | +2000

Arsenal are the frontrunners, and it’s not too surprising to see Manchester City and Liverpool next in line. Bookies clearly can’t choose between Chelsea and Manchester United for a top-four finish, and both teams carry similar odds for winning the EPL. The most surprising number on this board is Tottenham’s +300 price to finish in the top four following a season where they were nearly relegated. We’ll see whether Roberto De Zerbi can return Spurs to glory.

2026-27 English Premier League futures: Aston Villa to Finish Top 6 (+140)

I know most fans would like to see a pick for the title here, and if it came down to it, I’d back Manchester City at +280 AND Liverpool at +550. However, there isn’t as much value in either selection compared to the price you’re getting on Aston Villa to Finish in the Top 6 (+140). Unai Emery is still with the club after a season where they finished comfortably in the top four and won the Europa League, which has been a familiar trophy for the Spaniard.

However, it is worth noting that Villa lost key players such as Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and Lucas Digne in the transfer window, but they also received just over £160 million in transfer fees. With that extra cash, they’ve gone ahead and signed 20-year-old CAM Johan Manzambi, who was a star at the World Cup, and CDM João Gomes from Wolves. These are the replacements for Rogers and Tielemans, and I expect them to fit into Emery’s system perfectly.

I could easily see Villa slotting in fourth once again this season, so getting plus-money on them finishing in the top six is a no-brainer. They will compete with Tottenham and Newcastle based on the current odds, but I could see them finishing ahead of Chelsea with the way they closed things out last season. Overall, Villa has the same manager and majority of players that got them Champions League qualification last season, and I expect more of the same in 2026-27.

2026-27 English Premier League futures Prediction: Alexander Isak Top Goalscorer (+1100)

Erling Haaland should win this season’s Golden Boot in the EPL, but I can’t pass up Liverpool’s Alexander Isak at his current price. The Swedish international never settled into Arne Slot’s system last season, which was mainly due to injuries. However, I expect Andoni Iraola to bring a more free-flowing style to the Reds this season, which could lead to games with plenty of goals. If that’s the case, Isak will be the main contributor, especially with Hugo Ekitike set to miss out on any action in 2026 and the start of 2027 as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Isak scored 23 goals in 34 matches for Newcastle during the 2024-25 season, which saw him finish just behind Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race. I think he could surpass that number this season and will gladly take a nibble on him to win the Golden Boot at 11-1.
