Cowboys vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction
Dallas opened as a 4.5-point favourite on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Cowboys and Giants seem to play at least one primetime game every season because Dallas is the NFL’s most popular team overall, and the Giants obviously plays in the USA’s biggest media market. Unfortunately, that New York offence looks abysmal yet again this season under quarterback Daniel Jones and embattled coach Brian Daboll, so here’s hoping that the Giants are flexed out of some other primetime games later unless they miraculously turn things around. These teams will play again in the middle game on the American Thanksgiving holiday.
It’s actually possible that both Daboll and the Cowboys’ Mike McCarthy are no longer in their jobs next season. The Giants have regressed big-time since Daboll’s first season. Meanwhile, owner/GM Jerry Jones has Super Bowl or bust expectations for Dallas so anything short of reaching that game and McCarthy most likely isn’t back.
Dallas swept New York last season by a combined score of 89-17, winning each by at least 32 points. The 72-point margin was the Cowboys’ largest ever in a sweep of an NFC East opponent, topping their 66-point edge against Philadelphia in 1969.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys looked fantastic in a Week 1 win in Cleveland but have been dominated in back-to-back home losses since – and Dallas carried a 16-game regular-season winning streak into this season. Baltimore won 28-25 in Big D on Sunday, and the game wasn’t that close as the Cowboys scored 19 garbage points in the fourth.
The Ravens gashed the Cowboys for 274 yards rushing, which was also a problem in a Week 2 loss to New Orleans. Dallas lost excellent defensive coordinator Dan Quinn this offseason as he’s now the head coach in Atlanta. Mike Zimmer is the new DC. The Cowboys have allowed 557 rushing yards, the most through three games since 1963. They have allowed 5.4 yards per carry, the worst average through three games since 1979. They have given up eight rushing touchdowns, the most in franchise history through three games.
On the flip side, Dallas can’t run the ball much itself in averaging a scant 73.7 yards on the ground. The Cowboys are 5-1 ATS in their past six NFC East games.
New York Giants
The Giants looked like the worst team in the NFL outside of Carolina the first two weeks but upset the Browns in Cleveland 21-15 on Sunday. QB Daniel Jones had easily his best game in 2024 with 236 yards passing, two TDs and no picks. Both those TD throws went to first-round rookie WR Malik Nabers, who looks like a future star. At 21 years, 56 days, he became the youngest wide receiver in NFL history to have two TD receptions. Nabers’ 23 receptions are tied for second most in NFL history for a rookie through three games.
After blitzing about 25 per cent of the time through Weeks 1 and 2, the Giants defence blitzed 57.4 per cent of the time Sunday, the highest rate for any team in Week 3, and overwhelmed the Browns offence. Seven of New York’s 27 blitzes produced sacks. Two Giants defensive backs, Dru Phillips and Adoree’ Jackson, left the game injured. New York is 7-3 ATS in its past 10.
