Canada vs. Morocco Round of 16 Prediction: FIFA World Cup Odds, Betting Picks
Canada will look to continue making history when they face Morocco in the World Cup Round of 16 on Saturday afternoon.
It’s been a tournament of firsts for Canada. They secured their first World Cup point, their first World Cup win, their first World Cup knockout round appearance and their first World Cup knockout round win with a dramatic 1-0 decision over South Africa in the Round of 32.
The difficulty only grows, however, as Les Rouges will face Morocco in the Round of 16 on Saturday in Houston. Morocco is a top-10 FIFA ranked team in the world and they are through to the Round of 16 after getting by the Netherlands on penalties.
Does Canada have a little magic left in their Cinderella run, or will Morocco make at least the quarterfinals for a second straight World Cup?

Canada vs. Morocco Betting Odds
Canada enters the Round of 16 as a +400 underdog, while Morocco is a -130 favourite and a regular time draw is listed at +240. The total of 2.5 has the Over priced at +125. This game is almost a complete flip of the Round of 32 when Canada was a -135 favourite and South Africa was a +400 underdog.
The winner of this game will face the winner of France vs. Paraguay in Boston on July 9. The opponent will almost certainly be France, who entered the tournament as the No. 3 ranked team in the world and reached the last two World Cup finals.

Canada FIFA World Cup Odds and News
It was a bit of a sloppy affair in the Round of 32 against South Africa, but Canada delivered when it mattered most. Stephen Eustaquio scored the game-winner in the third minute of stoppage time to deliver the biggest win in the history of the men’s program. Canada continued it’s aggressive attack with a high-pressure style which will be much riskier against a significantly better Morocco side.
Outside of Eustaquio’s winner, the best sight for Canadian fans in the Round of 32 was the return of captain Alphonso Davies, who missed the entire group stage recovering from a hamstring injury. Davies came off the bench to play the last 15 minutes and noticeably looked better than any player on the field. While Marsch hasn’t ruled out starting Davies against Morocco, Richie Laryea is likely the safer option to start at left-back following Davies’ long absence.
Morocco FIFA World Cup Odds and News
Just like Canada’s win, it wasn’t exactly pretty for Morocco in the Round of 32. The Atlas Lions made it through more because the Netherlands were worse in the shootout, rather than Morocco excelling. Morocco has relied heavily on ball movement throughout the tournament, with 801 passes against the Netherlands. For context, Spain is the only other team to register more than 800 passes in a World Cup game since the data was first tracked.
There was a bit of an injury scare for Morocco against the Netherlands as centre-back Chadi Riad was forcibly subbed in the 75th minute. The good news is Riad has returned to training and will likely play against Canada. If Riad can’t go, it would be Redouane Halhal or Marwane Saadane. However, the expectation is Morocco will have a fully healthy squad.
Canada vs. Morocco Player Odds and Props
Jonathan David 2+ shots on target (+310)
The Juventus forward produced a hat trick in the group stage against Qatar and he’s had more chances than any Canadian player. David ranks sixth in the tournament in total shots (15) and tied for fifth in shots on target (eight).
Cyle Larin anytime goal (+340)
Cyle Larin just seems to come in clutch when it matters most for Canada. Larin opened the scoring against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Qatar and I give him the edge to start next to David against Morocco.
FIFA World Cup 2026 Bracket and Futures
Canada is clearly a much bigger long shot to win this tournament as they are +10,000 to win it all, while Morocco is +2500.
Your best long shot futures wager for Canada at the moment, is Les Rouges to reach the semifinals at +2000. Canada actually fought Morocco to a close 2-1 result at Qatar 2022, which means they would just need one more upset win, likely against France or possibly Paraguay.
Canada vs. Morocco Score Prediction
Final score prediction: Canada 1 | Morocco 2
This is already a historically good Canadian team, but they won’t be satisfied with just one knockout win. However, every Cinderella story has to come to an end. While I think Canada will hang around in this game, Morocco has a clear advantage.
