Packers vs. Broncos Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 2 Odds, Prediction

The NFL preseason rolls along with the schedule’s middle chapter. The Green Bay Packers were in Cleveland last week and kept the Dawg Pound quiet with a 23-10 victory. More to the south, the Denver Broncos visited the Indianapolis Colts and pulled out a win in a back-and-forth affair, 34-30.

Our NFL preseason odds have high hopes for the Broncos, pegging them as -7 favourites.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Green Bay is on a decent preseason football roll. Dating back to August 2023, the Packers have won three of their last four games, covering the spread thrice as well. That includes last week’s victory against the Browns.

Last summer the Broncos were favoured in all three of their tune-up bouts, yet only covered once. They also went 1-2 straight up. The script was flipped for Week 1 this year, with Denver successfully covering the spread as a 1.5 underdog.

There hasn’t been a preseason meeting between these franchises in ages. Their last six tilts going back to ‘07– including a Broncos win last year – were all regular season matches.

Green Bay Packers

Unlike some other head coaches, Matt Lafleur doesn’t mind giving his starters some snaps during August football. By the same token, it could also be because the roster is so young. Might as well let the kids get some exercise.

Last week versus the Browns it was Jordan Love and company who got the party started. The 65-yard, opening drive bomb to WR Dontayvion Wicks set the tone for the afternoon and the Packers never looked back. It was a 17-3 game favouring the visitors by halftime and Green Bay remained stout on defence in the second half en route to an easy 23-10 win.

QB Sean Clifford got plenty game time, going 10-for-19, 111 yards and a QB rating of 70.3. One wonders if Michael Pratt, who played less in Week 1, will be the one to lead the offence on Sunday night. RB Emanuel Wilson looked like he had some nice moves, giving Browns tacklers the slip for a 67-yard day on 13 touches and a score. Defensively Lukas Van Ness, Spencer Waege, and Colby Wooden put in good work with a sack each.

Denver Broncos

Most preseason contests are sleepy affairs. Teams play backups and reveal very little of the offensive or defensive schemes they’ll unleash when things get real in September. Then there are games like the Broncos’ 34-30 win versus the Colts in Week 1.

Whenever the Broncos took a shot, the Colts punched right back. It remained close all afternoon, thus providing rookies and backups with a good experience of competitive football. Speaking of rookies, Denver’s first-round selection QB Bo Nix saw a lot of action. He looked good, finishing 15-for-21 for 125 yards and a nice TD toss to Marvin Mims Jr. in the second quarter to make it 10-3. Former Jet Zach Wilson was solid as well (10-for-13, 117 yards).

A lot of ball carriers got to touch the rock, with Audric Estime, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Blake Watson getting seven carries or more. That said, nobody looked amazing. Estime earned the best average per tote with 4.3 yards.
