France vs. Sweden Round of 32 betting odds
France is hands down the favourite to win this tournament, making them clear favourites to advance here at -1100 odds, with Sweden listed as underdogs at +600. No draws are possible at this stage of the World Cup, although a regulation draw is listed at +500 odds to send the game to extra time. An Under 3.5 goals is slightly more projected to occur at -160, with the Over 3.5 set for +125.
France vs. Sweden predicted starting XI lineups
France rotated many of their players throughout the group stage due to their depth on the bench, and could put out any combination of players to support their star attackers. After scoring at least three goals per game in the group stage for 10 total, they will certainly keep their 4-2-3-1 shape to exploit Sweden.
France predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1):
— Kylian Mbappé (ST) —
Desire Doue (LM) – Michael Olise (CM) – Ousmane Dembélé (RM)
Manu Kone (CDM) – Aurélien Tchouaméni (CDM)
Theo Hernández (LB) – William Saliba (CB) – Dayot Upamecano (CB) – Jules Koundé (RB)
— Mike Maignan (GK) —
Sweden could pull off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament as they come into this round after securing a third-place spot, but playing with a three-back will have its drawbacks against France. While they only won one of their group games using this shape, they still managed to score seven goals this tournament, so it will be interesting to see how they set up against a dominating French squad, especially with defender Isak Hein ruled out due to injury. The team will likely need their outside midfielders to drop back as wing-backs and set up in a five-back to endure the storm.
Sweden predicted starting XI (5-3-2):
– Alexander Isak (ST) – Viktor Gyökeres (ST) –
Yasin Ayari (CM), Benjamin Nygren (CM), Jesper Karlstrom (CM),
Daniel Svensson (LWB) – Victor Lindelof (LCB) – Gabriel Gudmundsson (CB) – Gustaf Lagerbielke (RCB) – Oscar Bernhardsson (RWB)
— Jacob Widell Zetterström (GK) —
France FIFA World Cup odds and news
Since their Nations League semifinal defeat to Spain in June 2025, France has won 13 out of 15 of their games, only losing in a friendly to the Ivory Coast, where no first-line players were on the pitch. France makes the knockout round of the World Cup for the fourth tournament in a row, as the favourites show no sign of stopping, with three straight group stage wins, and Mbappe and Dembele leading the way with four goals each.
The French squad boasts so much speed, attacking firepower, and defensive options on the whole roster, as well as experience through making the World Cup final two tournaments in a row now, making them the team to beat.
Sweden FIFA World Cup odds and news
Sweden is excited to be a part of the knockout round of the World Cup for the first time since their defeat to England in the 2018 tournament, although France will be their toughest opposition yet, no question. If Graham Potter sets his team up to properly counter France’s centre-pieces, they could keep this game level at 0-0 and wait for a crucial opening from one of their star forwards, Isak or Gyökeres.
The Scandinavian side has experienced defensive troubles under its three-back setup (which will likely change), as they’ve allowed seven goals total this World Cup. Premier League forwards Gyökeres and Isak have done monumental work on the counterattack and will need to step it up to a higher gear for this one.

Ousmane Dembele (FRA) to score (+125)
The 2025 Ballon d’Or and two-time Champions League winner is ripe to score again against Sweden after catching up to his teammate with a hat-trick against Norway.

Odds to win the World Cup – France (+350), Sweden (+20000)
France vs. Sweden score prediction
Sweden has already shown their defensive vulnerabilities throughout this group stage, which will likely be exploited by France’s talented offence. Even with a low-block setup, the Scandinavians will have to endure 90 minutes of their goal being hounded. If the French starting line doesn’t work out as intended, there are endless options on the bench, so expect France to move on here after a simple 2-0 win in regulation.
