FIFA World Cup Betting Picks for June 29: Morocco, Netherlands battle to face Canada in Round of 16
We’re officially into the knockout stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Round of 32 kicked off on Sunday with Canada defeating South Africa in a dramatic 1-0 finish. The Canadians will have their eyes on Monday’s slate of games as they will face the winner of Morocco vs. Netherlands on Saturday in Houston.
But, before Canada finds out their next opponent, we have a couple other powerhouse matchups. Brazil takes on Japan to open the day, followed by Germany vs. Paraguay, then Netherlands vs. Morocco.

Brazil vs. Japan

Brazil bounced back from a 1-1 tournament-opening draw against Morocco by pounding Haiti and Scotland 3-0 each to win Group C. Vinicius Junior has been the star with four goals, giving himself an outside shot at winning the World Cup Golden Boot if Brazil can make a run.
Japan finished runner-up in Group F with two draws (Netherlands and Sweden) and a 4-0 win over Tunisia. For inspiration, the Samurai Blue only have to look back to an October friendly in which they beat Brazil, although the Selecao were missing some key players.

Germany vs. Paraguay

Germany took Group E with two wins (Curacao and Ivory Coast) and a loss to Ecuador. While DFB-Team impressed with nine goals in their first two games, it’s troubling to see them lose against tougher competition.
Paraguay advanced as one of the best third-place teams after collecting four points in Group D action. However, the White and Red crumbled when they faced a stronger American side, so I don’t see them advancing against a European giant like Germany.

Netherlands vs. Morocco

Netherlands won Group F with a draw against Japan before two blowout wins over Sweden and Tunisia. The Orange’s 10 goals in the group stage is tied for the tournament-lead, while Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo has scored three times.
Morocco matched Brazil in Group C with seven points, but settled for runner-up because of goal differential. Like heir Dutch opponents, the Atlas Lions are a legit top-10 team in the world, setting the stage for the tightest Round of 32 matchup.
