A clash of CFL West rivals still searching for their first win of the season highlights the Saturday night sports betting schedule as the BC Lions play host to the Calgary Stampeders at Apple Bowl Stadium in Kelowna.

The Stamps travel to BC after suffering narrow defeats in their first two outings of the campaign, capped by last week’s 40-37 home loss to Saskatchewan.

The Lions head to Kelowna for their home opener after getting outclassed in a 41-27 loss in Hamilton that leaves them sporting a 0-2-0 record.

The Lions lead the way as 1.5-point favourites on the CFL Week 4 odds. The Stampeders trail as +100 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is listed at 56.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

The Lions have dominated the Stampeders in recent head-to-head action, claiming victory in 11 of 14 overall meetings since 2021 including wins in their past four clashes.

The Lions have regularly run up the score when facing Calgary, average 38.5 points per game during their current 4-0 run and have scored an average of 34 points while knocking off the Stamps in five straight home meetings.

That has generated a boon for CFL bettors taking the OVER in totals betting, which has paid out in the past three matchups between these squads, and gone 5-2 in their past seven in BC.

With both these teams struggling to contain opposing offences, that trend could get extended on Saturday. The Lions have surrendered 36 points per game during their 0-2-0 start while the Stamps have allowed 35 points per game while losing their first two.

Despite their slow start, the Lions closely trail the favourites on the Grey Cup odds as a +600 bet while Calgary sits well off the pace as a +1200 bet on the Grey Cup futures.

Calgary Stampeders

The Stampeders have failed to maintain the momentum that lifted them into last year’s CFL playoffs thanks to a season-ending 3-0-0 run. However, they have a better fate. The squad’s season-opening 30-28 loss to Winnipeg came on a field goal with no time remaining while last week’s defeat came following a seesaw overtime battle that featured three field goals and a touchdown.

Vernon Adams Jr. has been steady, if not dominant, tossing for one score in each of the first two games, and was one of three Stamps to tally scoring runs versus the Bombers, joining Quincy Vaughan and top rusher Dedrick Mills, who has topped 100 rushing yards in each of the first two games of the campaign, and is a solid -115 bet on the CFL player props to rush for OVER 87.5 yards on Saturday night.

BC Lions

After suffering a heartbreaking 31-27 season-opening loss in Saskatchewan, the Lions fell flat in Hamilton last week, spotting the Ti-Cats a 34-9 lead in third quarter before adding a pair of fourth-quarter garbage time scores in a 41-27 defeat.

Nathan Rourke was clearly outshone by Bo Levi Mitchell it what had been billed as a clash of star passers, throwing for 285 yards and one pick and one TD on 15-for-18 passing. However, Rourke was forced to make do without the services of receivers Keon Hatcher Sr. (thigh), Stanley Berryhill III (thigh), Seven McGee (foot) and Canadian Jevon Cottoy (thigh) while Kieran Poissant and Justin McInnis were both hurt during the contest.

However, both Hatcher and McInnis, Rourke’s favourite targets are expected to be ready for Saturday. The bog challenge now for the Lions will be on defence after a pair of shaky performances in which they surrendered an average of 22 points before halftime.
