Colts vs. Saints Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 15 Odds

The penultimate Monday night game of the 2019 NFL regular season features the Indianapolis Colts visiting the New Orleans Saints for the first time since the 2011 season.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Indianapolis could be eliminated from playoff contention before it even takes the field on Monday night depending on what happens Sunday. That the Colts were even this competitive surprised many around the NFL when superstar quarterback Andrew Luck retired in the pre-season.

New Orleans, meanwhile, is looking to earn the top seed in the NFC playoffs for a second straight year. This could be the last, best chance for future Hall of Famer Drew Brees to win a second Super Bowl ring considering he will be 41 in January. Not out of the question that Brees retires on top were the Saints to win the Super Bowl.

Dating to their days in Baltimore, the Saints are 8-5 all-time against the Colts. That includes a 31-17 win over Peyton Manning’s Colts in Super Bowl XLIV in Miami (where this year’s Super Bowl is held). Manning had a pass picked off late in the fourth quarter returned for a touchdown that clinched the Saints’ first and still only title.

The Manning family is royalty in New Orleans as that’s where the Peyton and Eli grew up, and father Archie Manning played quarterback for the Saints. Brees might be the only more popular sports figure in the history of Big Easy.

The Saints are 7-2 against the spread in the past nine meetings.

Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis was 5-2 at one point and leading the AFC South but has lost three straight and five of six. The Colts’ defence was shredded by Jameis Winston in Tampa on Sunday in a 38-35 loss as the Bucs had 542 yards of offence. Top Indianapolis running back Marlon Mack returned from a two-game injury absence and rushed for a score but was held to 38 yards on the ground. No. 1 receiver T.Y. Hilton and kicker Adam Vinatieri were both out injured. Vinatieri’s Hall of Fame career is likely over. The 46-year-old is the NFL’s leading career scorer with 2,671 points and he has 29 game-winning kicks. However, Vinatieri has struggled this season and two of his field-goal misses – vs. the Chargers and Steelers — cost the Colts games. Indy is 11-2 ATS in its past 13 vs. teams with a winning record.

New Orleans Saints

New Orleans lost a huge game Sunday at home to the 49ers on Sunday, 48-46, which could cost the Saints a chance for home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Niners kicker Robbie Gould hit a 30-yard field goal as time expired. The combined 94 points were the most in a regular-season game between 10-win teams in NFL history. Brees threw for 349 yards and five touchdowns, but the Saints’ defence was torched for 516 yards. Brees now has 537 career touchdown passes, two shy of Manning’s NFL record. Top tight end Jared Cook left with a concussion following his second catch of the game. The Saints are 3-8 ATS in their past 11 at home.
