Chiefs vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction
This is one of those games you will want to wait to bet on at Sports Interaction until after all the other Week 16 action (other than the Monday game) has been decided.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Seattle is all but locked into an NFC Wild-Card spot and potentially could clinch before taking the field depending on what happens Sunday. Whether that’s as the No. 5 or No. 6 seed is to be determined, but Coach Pete Carroll could start resting guys to get as healthy as possible for the postseason.
Kansas City is tied for the AFC West and conference lead with the Chargers at 11-3. However, might the Chiefs lack a bit of urgency here if the Chargers lose Saturday night and Houston (10-4) does earlier Sunday? Those results would assure K.C. the AFC’s top seed simply by winning its season finale at home vs. Oakland, which seems like a lock. Then again, winning this game if both those clubs lose also does it and you don’t want to play with fire.
The Chiefs and Seahawks used to be AFC West rivals and thus have met 51 times, but Seattle moved to the NFC West in 2002. Kansas City has won the past three in the series, with the most recent meeting in 2014.
The Chiefs are 7-1 ATS in the past eight meetings.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs still have to be shaking their heads at last Thursday’s shocking 29-28 home loss to the Chargers as Kansas City was up 14 three different times – including with four minutes remaining. However, the very shaky Kansas City secondary allowed Philip Rivers to hit Mike Williams on a 1-yard TD pass with four seconds left and then allowed the winning 2-point conversion when Williams somehow was left wide open in the end zone.
Kansas City managed to extend its NFL record of scoring at least 25 points to 19 consecutive games but was held to a season-low 294 yards. And that iffy secondary has lost arguably its best cornerback in Kendall Fuller. He had surgery Friday for a fractured wrist, which he actually played through Thursday.
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle was one of the big upset victims of Week 15, losing 26-23 in overtime at San Francisco, a team the Seahawks had beaten 43-16 two weeks earlier and had won 10 straight against. A victory would have clinched a playoff spot, but Seattle’s four-game winning streak ended. Russell Wilson threw for 237 yards and two scores, both to Doug Baldwin (who was questionable with a hip injury), while Chris Carson rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Seattle was penalized 14 times for 148 yards and looked sloppy at times on a short week. Linebacker K.J. Wright was out with a knee injury but could return Week 16. Safety Bradley McDougald left with his own knee injury.
