The Vancouver Whitecaps look to post their third straight league clean sheet when they host red-hot St. Louis City SC at BC Place on Saturday at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Vancouver are 13-4-4 with 43 points and sit first in the West. The Whitecaps enter off consecutive MLS shutouts, beating FC Dallas 5-0 at home before posting a 3-0 victory at Sporting Kansas City last weekend.

Thomas Müller converted a penalty against Sporting KC, Brian White added his 13th MLS goal of the season and Rayan Elloumi completed the scoring in the 90th minute.

St. Louis are sixth in the West at 9-7-6 with 34 points but have not lost in 13 straight matches across all competitions. City settled for a 3-3 draw with FC Dallas last Sunday after surrendering two goals in the final 10 minutes.

Vancouver are heavy favourites at home at -223 on the MLS odds, with the draw at +400. St. Louis are available at +550.

The over/under sits at 3.5 goals, with the under favoured at -150.

Vancouver have outscored their opponents 48-18 in 21 MLS matches and own a league-best +30 goal differential. The Whitecaps are also 8-2-1 at BC Place, although they were just 1-1-1 there in MLS play in August.

Vancouver face a short turnaround after playing CF Montréal to a 1-1 draw Wednesday in the first leg of the Canadian Championship semifinals.

Captain Ryan Gauld scored Vancouver’s equalizer, with Bruno Caicedo picking up the assist. Gauld’s return to the lineup gives the Whitecaps another significant attacking option.

St. Louis City SC

St. Louis are one of the hottest teams in MLS despite sitting nine points behind Vancouver. City are 8-0-5 during their 13-match unbeaten run across all competitions, including 3-0-2 on the road. Their last loss came at Austin in early May.

Simon Becher has been at the centre of the surge, scoring four goals over his last four MLS matches. He had a brace against San Jose before scoring against Houston and Dallas and is tied with Marcel Hartel for the team-lead with six league goals.

City also strengthened their attack at the transfer deadline by adding Rafael Navarro and Damion Downs.

St. Louis have not won at BC Place, however. Their only victory over Vancouver came at home in 2023.

MLS Prediction: Who Will Win Vancouver Whitecaps vs. St. Louis City SC?

This is a considerably tougher matchup for Vancouver than the standings suggest.

St. Louis have gone months without a loss, while Vancouver have been dominant at both ends and enter with consecutive league clean sheets.

The Whitecaps face a rest disadvantage after Wednesday’s Canadian Championship match. They should control more of the possession and create better chances, but City’s current form makes a blowout unlikely.

Look for St. Louis to extend their unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw.
