Blue Bombers vs. Roughriders CFL Week 14: Labour Day Classic Betting Odds, Picks
It’s an unusual Week 14 schedule around the CFL because of Labour Day Weekend with just one Sunday game, and it’s a West Division matchup as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit Saskatchewan in the Labour Day Classic.
The Roughriders are 5.5-point favourites, biggest of the week on the CFL odds, and the total is 57.5 – the lowest of the week.
CFL Odds and Betting
No CFL action on Saturday in Week 14, just this one game on Sunday and then two on Monday with the Labour Day Weekend. This also will mark the last CFL Sunday that isn’t opposed by the NFL.
The matchup definitely could be important in the West Division standings, which Edmonton leads at 8-3. Saskatchewan is second at 7-4 and Winnipeg third at 6-5, but technically fourth in losing a tiebreaker with fellow 6-5 club B.C. On the updated Grey Cup odds, the Roughriders are +450 second-favourites behind Montreal to repeat, while Winnipeg is +1500.
Sunday marks the first of two regular-season meetings with Saskatchewan visiting Princess Auto Stadium next Saturday. Last season, Saskatchewan won the first two meetings before Winnipeg won the finale, 17-16 at home, to avoid the three-game sweep. The lone game at Mosaic Stadium was the Labour Day Classic, and a 34-30 Riders victory.
Tevaughn Campbell sealed it late with a leaping interception in the end zone in the final seconds to stop Winnipeg’s comeback and two-point try to tie. Campbell returned it 112 yards for a pick-two. The first quarter was scoreless for only the third time in 60 Labour Day Classics (1952, 1970, 2025).
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Winnipeg was a 6.5-point home underdog last Friday when it trounced league-best Montreal, 44-28, in easily the Bombers’ best outing of the season. The offence totalled 447 yards with five touchdowns and three field goals against the stingiest defence in the CFL.
QB Zach Collaros was terrific in completing 26-of-32 passes (81 per cent) for 324 yards with two TDs to Pokey Wilson – he finished nine catches for 114 yards and those two scores. Wilson had totalled only 102 yards over the previous three games.
Tailback Brady Oliveira rushed 16 times for 106 yards and a touchdown, his fourth time in the past five rushing for at least 100.
The Winnipeg defence forced four punts as well as forcing a fumble and turnover on downs and held Montreal to 284 yards. Sergio Castillo made field goals from 51, 43 and 20 yards and is 15-for-15 in his past four games.
It appears the Blue Bombers got out of the game without a major injury.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Roughriders were -4.5 last Saturday at home vs. Toronto and barely failed to cover in a 28-24 victory – the Riders’ third straight ATS loss.
Tommy Stevens’ 2-yard touchdown run with 2:57 left in the fourth quarter put Saskatchewan ahead for the first time and would stand as the Riders rallied from down 22-7. It was Stevens’ league-best 12th rushing TD of the year.
Saskatchewan out-gained Toronto by 109 yards on the ground (124-15) – the Argos only attempted four carries, fewest ever by any club against the Riders.
Trevor Harris passed for 313 yards, 200 in the second half, and two scores. Harris has thrown at least one touchdown pass in each of the Roughriders’ first 11 games, two shy of the team record to start a season set by Kent Austin in 1992.
Harris is now 127 passing yards away from tying Doug Flutie for 10th on the CFL’s all-time list. KeeSean Johnson caught 10 balls for 146 yards and a TD. It was his fifth 100-yard game of the season and third with at least 10 catches to tie a single-season team mark.
