Commanders vs. Eagles Point Spread: NFL Week 18 Odds, Prediction
The Philadelphia Eagles look to keep their hopes of clinching the second seed in the NFC alive with a fourth straight victory when they host the Washington Commanders on Sunday afternoon in their regular season finale at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles remained in the hunt with last week’s 13-12 win over Buffalo but need a victory over Washington and loss by the Chicago Bears in their Sunday afternoon home date with Detroit to claim the No. 2 seed and a wild card date with the Green Bay Packers.
The Commanders close out a forgettable 2025 campaign looking to snap a two-game slide with just their second win in 12 games. Washington followed up on a 29-18 Week 16 loss to Philadelphia with last week’s 30-23 defeat at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys and have failed to record a win over a playoff-bound opponents since their 27-10 road victory over the Los Angles Chargers back in Week 5.
Despite reports suggesting the Eagles may rest several of their starters including quarterback Jalen Hurts, they still lead the way as 4-point road on the NFL Week 18 odds. The Commanders trail as lag as +165 underdogs on the NFL moneyline and the total is listed at 39.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Eagles contributed to the Commanders’ woes with their victory in Washington two weeks ago and have now claimed victory in seven of their past nine head-to-head matchups. However, Philly has been far from a reliable bet when facing the Commanders, going just 5-6-2 against the spread over their past 13 clashes including a 2-3-1 ATS mark in their past six meetings at Lincoln Financial Field.
While hard-fought contests have not been uncommon when these divisional rivals meet, with four of their past five matchups getting settled by a single score, these teams have regularly combined to generate big point totals, tallying 47 or more points five times during a 5-1 run for the OVER.
However, the Eagles defence has effectively shut down opponents during their current 3-0 SU run, surrendering just 10 points per game and extending a steady run for the UNDER, which has paid out in seven of the team’s past eight games.
That is bad news for the Commanders, who have been lit up for 30.3 points per game during their current 1-11 SU run while scoring 18 or fewer points five times over their past 10 contests.
Washington Commanders
With both Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota sidelined by injuries, veteran journeyman Josh Johnson will once again get the call under centre for the Commanders on Sunday afternoon. The 39-year-old did not embarrass himself while making his first NFL start since Boxing Day 2021 in last week’s loss to Dallas, connecting on 15 of 23 pass attempts for 198 yards but failing to find the end zone. That followed his brief performance in relief of Mariota the week before versus Philadelphia in which he went 5-for-9 for 43 yards and one pick.
Not surprisingly, the Commanders are likely to lean on their ground game once again in their season finale. Jacory Croskey-Merritt provided the spark last week while galloping for 105 yards and both the squad’s touchdowns and has now run for four total scores while twice topping 95 rushing yards over the past three games. Chris Rodriguez Jr. has also contributed in the backfield, topping 40 yards five times and compiling four TDs over the past six contests including a 63-yard, one-TD performance two weeks ago versus the Eagles.
Philadelphia Eagles
Despite remaining in reach of the second seed in the NFC, the Eagles look likely to rest several of their regulars on Sunday, with the most notable name on that list being quarterback Jalen Hurts. That opens the door for Tanner McKee to make his second career NFL start and his first since Week 18 last season.
Selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL draft, McKee represented one of the few bright spots at Stanford in two losing seasons as the starting passer for the beleaguered Cardinal. The 25-year-old tossed for 28 total TDs over his final two seasons of college football, and while he also ran for six total scores, he does not represent much of a threat as a ball carrier after compiling -90 rushing yards on 74 carries in his final collegiate campaign.
With McKee’s limited mobility and the status of injured tight end Dallas Goedert in question, look for the Eagles to also focus on the ground game. If the Eagles elect to rest star rusher Saquon Barkley, it could mean a busy day for Tank Bigsby, who has recorded just six total touches over the past two weeks, but racked up 161 total yards in the two outings this season in which he recorded nine or more carries.
