MLB Odds: Blue Jays extend qualifying offer to Bo Bichette
The Toronto Blue Jays have extended a one-year, $22.05 million qualifying offer to Bo Bichette, the team announced on Thursday.
Here’s what you need to know.
Bo Bichette
The team made the offer ahead of Thursday’s 5 p.m. deadline. Bichette now has until Nov. 18 to accept or Toronto would gain a compensatory draft pick if the 27-year-old signs with another team.
Following an injury-riddled 2024 season, Bichette bounced back in 2025, batting .311 with 18 home runs and a team-high 94 RBIs.
Bichette was on pace to lead the majors in both hits (181) and doubles (44) before suffering a PCL sprain in his left knee on Sept. 6. The injury kept him out of the lineup until Game 1 of the World Series against the Dodgers.
In 23 at-bats during the Fall Classic, Bichette hit .348, including a three-run homer to put Toronto ahead in Game 7.
The Orlando native was a second round draft pick of the Blue Jays in 2016. Since his debut in 2019, he has a .294 batting average with 111 home runs, 190 doubles and 437 RBIs.
Toronto Blue Jays
Signing Bichette is Toronto’s top off-season priority, but it’s not their only focus.
The team already secured a big win late Tuesday night when it was reported starting pitcher Shane Bieber was opting in to his one-year, $16 million player option. By all accounts, Bieber was expected to fetch a much bigger pay day on the open market.
The team is also expected to focus on improving the bullpen, which was easily their biggest issue all last season.
Oddsmakers continue to overlook the Blue Jays. Despite reaching Game 7 of the World Series, Toronto is at +1600 to win in 2026, trailing six other teams on the MLB futures board.
The top three World Series favourites are the Dodgers (+350), Yankees (+750) and Phillies (+1100).
