Tempo vs. Aces WNBA Betting Odds, Picks: Injury-riddled Toronto heads to Las Vegas

The Toronto Tempo visit the Las Vegas Aces on Friday night for the third and final meeting of the season between the clubs. Tip-off from Michelob ULTRA Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET on TSN.

Las Vegas has won both previous meetings, 109-83 and 88-78, with the latter coming just five days ago in Toronto. The Aces enter at 26-13 and have already secured a playoff spot, while the 11-27 Tempo are simply trying to survive a brutal late-season stretch made even tougher by a decimated roster.

Las Vegas is a heavy 13.5-point favourite to win on the WNBA odds, with the total set at 175.5.

Tempo vs. Aces WNBA Odds and Betting Trends

Toronto has been a profitable Over team at 22-14, but its personnel situation makes Friday difficult to handicap through season-long trends alone.

Las Vegas has dominated losing teams, winning 12 of its last 13 against sub-.500 opponents. Each of its last five victories in those spots has come by double digits. The Aces are 18-19 against the spread, while Toronto enters 17-16 ATS.

Toronto’s roster has been stripped down by injuries and absences.

Leading scorer Marina Mabrey is sidelined with a hip injury, while Brittney Sykes and Aneesha Morrow are out for the season. Nyara Sabally remains unavailable, and the contracts of Maria Conde and Julie Allemand have been suspended.

That leaves Kiki Rice carrying an increasingly large offensive responsibility. Rice has scored at least 19 points in three straight games and poured in 24 against Seattle last time out.

Toronto has now dropped two straight after briefly snapping a 12-game losing streak. The Tempo average 87.0 points but allow a league-worst 93.6 per game, making this a brutal matchup against Las Vegas’ efficient offence.

Las Vegas has had several days to rest since beating Toronto 88-78 on Sunday, while the Tempo had to squeeze in a 90-78 loss to Seattle in between.

The Aces score 90.5 points per game while allowing only 86.9, ranking inside the league’s top six at both ends. They also lead the WNBA in assists per game and shoot 48 per cent from the field.

NaLyssa Smith is now out for the season after suffering a non-contact leg injury against Toronto, but Las Vegas still has considerably more depth than its opponent.

The spread is enormous, but Toronto’s current roster makes it difficult to take the points.

Las Vegas failed to cover a 13.5-point number in Toronto five days ago, but the circumstances are more favourable this time. The Aces are rested, at home and facing a Tempo team that played Seattle between meetings and remains without most of its established scoring options.

Wilson may not need a huge night if Las Vegas creates separation early. Expect the Aces’ depth, passing and defensive efficiency to eventually overwhelm a Toronto group asking too much of Rice and its remaining healthy rotation.
