Giants vs. Vikings Point Spread: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction

The 8-5-1 Giants are coming off a massive Sunday Night Football win at Washington last weekend that’s moved them up to the six seed in the conference. The 11-3 Vikings are coming off the biggest comeback in NFL history, and a win that also clinched the NFC North for Minnesota.

Neither team has been playing great lately, with Sunday being the Giants first win since November 13 and Saturday advancing Minnesota to 3-2 in their last five games. But both clubs will be looking to build momentum in Week 16.

Kickoff at U.S. Bank Stadium Saturday gets going at 1 p.m. EDT, with Minnesota a 3.5-point favourite and the total at 48 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Saturday’s home victory made it seven of eight this season for the Vikings on home field, and advanced the over to 6-2 in those eight contests. Minnesota didn’t cover in the 39-36 win against Indianapolis and are now 4-4 against the spread at home. New York is 5-1 ATS on the road and 4-2 straight up.

But head-to-head it’s the Vikings who are 6-3 ATS and 7-2 straight up in their last nine with the Giants. New York’s lost four of their last five trips to Minnesota too. The under has connected in four of the last five Giants–Vikings contests.

New York Giants

New York’s defence came to play last weekend as they held Washington to 12 points, scored a defensive touchdown, and capped off the win with a fourth-and-goal stop. Kayvon Thibodeaux’s one-yard fumble return opened up the scoring for New York as the Giants only scored once on offence too. Thibodeaux got the rare strip sack and recovery for a touchdown, part of a massive 12-tackle game that also saw the 2022 first-rounder register three tackles for a loss.

The Giants rank fifth in the NFL with 31.5 carries per game, and they right at that average last weekend with 30 carries for 128 yards. Saquon Barkley scored his ninth touchdown in the win and is fourth in the NFL with 1,170 rushing yards.

Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota went into halftime last Saturday down 33-0 and facing their second straight loss to a sub .500 team. But a 36-3 second half followed by a walk off 40-yard Greg Joseph field goal led to the greatest comeback in NFL history. Kirk Cousins had a massive day with 460 passing yards and four touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions with one going back for a touchdown.

The Vikings have averaged just under 330 passing yards in their last three outings, and are third in the NFL with 39.7 passing attempts per game. Justin Jefferson also remains the league’s leading receiver with 1,623 yards. With 115.9 yards per game, Jefferson is on pace to break the single-season receiving yards record of 1,964 and could be the first player to reach 2,000 yards.
