Utah Jazz vs. Dallas Mavericks Game 2 Prediction, NBA Odds
Will Luka Doncic play for Dallas in Game 2 of its Western Conference playoff series on Monday for the Dallas Mavericks? That’s the big question. Oddsmakers clearly don’t think so as the Jazz are 5.5-point road favourites on the NBA odds.
Jazz vs. Mavericks NBA Betting Odds
With Utah up 1-0 in the series, the Jazz are now -714 to win it with Dallas as +508. On the series handicap, the Jazz at -1.5 games are -455. The favoured exact result is a Utah sweep at +189 (it had been Jazz in six at +319 entering), while Dallas winning in five is +2884. The over-under total games is 5.5 with the under a -192 favourite.
The Mavericks haven’t lost back-to-back home games in the New Year but also usually had superstar Luka Doncic in the lineup. He wasn’t in the opener and probably won’t be available Monday.
Utah is 4-10-1 against the spread in its past 15 in Dallas.
Utah Jazz
The Jazz closed as 5.5-point favourites for Game 1 and won 99-93. Those who backed Utah got the cover when Donovan Mitchell made two free throws with 10.4 seconds left and the Mavericks’ Spencer Dinwiddie missed a long three-pointer. He probably could have driven to the rim and scored two points easily. Mitchell wasn’t great from the field in hitting 10-for-29 and had just two points on 1-for-9 in the first half but ended up with 32 points, six rebounds and six assists.
Bojan Bogdanovic had 26 points. All-Star centre Rudy Gobert had one shot attempt (missed) but had 17 rebounds and three blocks. The Jazz apparently got out of it healthy. They are 7-2 ATS in their past nine as playoff favourites.
Dallas Mavericks
Superstar Luka Doncic missed Game 1 with a strained calf and while he hasn’t been ruled out of Game 2 yet, he’s considered “unlikely.” Doncic, who suffered the injury during the April 10 regular-season finale, has not participated in a practice since straining his calf and has been limited to simply shooting. Dallas is 8-10 without Doncic this season, including the Game 1 loss.
Spencer Dinwiddie started in his spot in Game 1 and had 22 points but hit only 6-for-15 and had four turnovers. Jalen Brunson becomes the primary scorer with no Luka and had 24 points but was 9-for-24. Canadian big man Dwight Powell had four points and five rebounds in 22 minutes, but the Mavs actually outscored the Jazz by nine with him on the court. No other Dallas starter had a positive rating. The Mavericks are 5-2 ATS in their past seven at home.
