Stampeders vs. Lions Prediction: CFL Week 15 Point Spread, Odds
A month ago the now 6-6 Calgary Stampeders and 4-8 BC Lions met in Vancouver in a crucial divisional match, and the Stampeders came out with a 29-point win. Since then the Lions have dropped another three games and dug themselves a hole big enough that if they lose here, they’re out of the playoffs.
BC’s lost six straight, last winning at Montreal on September 18. They’re also 1-4 at home on the season whereas Calgary’s a much better road team at 4-2 and are coming off a bye. Kickoff at BC Place Friday is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. EST.
CFL Odds and Betting
Calgary’s the team BC is chasing, meaning the Stamps should have all the motivation to put the nail in the coffin during likely the final Bo Levi Mitchell–Michael Reilly meeting of the year. Ironically, neither of these hall of famers have had seasons to remember. Reilly’s got solid numbers, but should be the first to say they don’t matter given another losing season.
Both offences are in the bottom half of the league when it comes to points per game and touchdowns too. It’s led to eight of Calgary’s 12 games going under this season although the Lions are 7-5 to the over in 2021.
Oddsmakers have the Stampeders as 2.5-point favourites on the road with the total at 45.5.
Calgary Stampeders
Mitchell’s really yet to find any sort of groove in 2021, which is troublesome. His 7:13 touchdown to interception ratio is as ugly as it seems, but he did put forth one of his better games this season when Calgary last took the field and beat Ottawa 26-13. Mitchell completed 22 of 29 passes for 242 yards although it was backup Jake Maier getting the only Calgary passing score of the game on his lone pass attempt of the contest.
The addition of cornerback Tre Roberson helped the Stamps keep Ottawa to 13 points and 173 passing yards. Roberson had four tackles and a forced fumble in his 2021 debut, returning from a stint in the NFL.
BC Lions
Going into Hamilton and putting up 415 yards on offence was an impressive feat for BC but at the end of the day 18 points won’t cut it, and didn’t in their eight-point loss to the Ti-Cats. Reilly passed for 330 yards and sneaked in a rushing touchdown in the loss. Lucky Whitehead was back to being “the guy” in BC’s offence too with nine grabs for 98 yards.
Looking ahead, all of defensive end J.R. Tavai and defensive backs Jalon Edwards-Cooper and T.J. Lee missed practice both Monday and Tuesday with injuries. Tavai missed Week 14 with his calf injury while Lee and Edwards-Cooper both battled through their lower-body wounds.
