Argonauts vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds
The Bombers have a good chance to jump above .500 for the first time this season as odds makers have the Bombers heavily favoured in this one by 11 points. The game total is listed at 53.5 points.
Betting Analysis
The Blue Bombers enter this game with the Argos winning four out of the last five games played, and are 3-2 in their last five games against the Argos in Winnipeg. The Bombers are also 7-3 ATS in their last ten games against teams with losing records, and 18-8 ATS in their last 24 games overall. But take into consideration the Argos are 9-5 ATS in their last 14 games played in July.
Toronto Argonauts
There’s lots of finger pointing going on in the Argos locker room after the team fell to 1-4 on the season, and currently tied for last place in the CFL. The last place Argos have had all kinds of problems on both sides of the ball this season, and last Friday’s loss is just an example. The team’s offence did not score a major in the loss; both touchdowns scored by the team were on defence. James Franklin struggled to find his receivers, completing just 21 of 36 for 151 yards and an interception. The team’s leading rusher James Wilder Jr. rushed for -2 yards on three carries, while the “team” rushed for a combined 22 yards the entire game.
To put the Argos offence in perspective, the team’s receiving group as a whole, has not recorded an offensive touchdown the entire season. That’s a head scratcher. Of note, Defensive lineman Dylan Wynn is expected to return to the line-up after serving a one game suspension and he will be needed after the team parted ways with defensive end Shawn Lemon to the BC Lions. There is some talk that newly signed, former NFL pro-bowler, Dexter McCluster could make his CFL debut this Friday night.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The CFL is definitely a quarterback driven league. In the last ten years, seven out of the ten winners of the league’s most valuable player award were quarterbacks. However, Blue Bombers running back Andrew Harris is making a great case through six weeks of the season. Harris leads the CFL in rushing yards with 610 and set a personal single-game best of 161 yards rushing last week against the Argos. Harris enters this game with three-straight 100 plus rushing games for the first time in his nine year career, and now stands second all-time in CFL rushing yards by a Canadian behind only Hall of Famer Normie Kwong.
But maybe the best measure of value of Harris in the Bombers last game was this stat: Harris total yards: 177, Argos entire offence: 172 yards. Also, the Bombers parted ways with receiver Adarius Bowman, as the 33 year-old was shipped to the Montreal Alouettes for a draft pick earlier this week.
