Vegas Golden Knights vs. Anaheim Ducks Game 6 Prediction, NHL Playoff Odds
The Vegas Golden Knights have the Anaheim Ducks on the ropes as their series shifts back to California for Game 6 on Thursday night.
Vegas survived a late Anaheim comeback bid in Game 5, clinching a 3-2 overtime victory after Pavel Dorofeyev’s seventh of the post-season. Carter Hart yet again stood tall in net for the Golden Knights, turning away 34 of 36 shots faced.
It’s been a tale of two halves in this series; goals have been hard to come by during the three games played in Vegas, and then the flood gates have opened in the two outings in Anaheim. Now with their season on the line, this young Anaheim squad has to keep up the home momentum and force a winner-take-all back in Vegas.
Puck drop at the Honda Center goes at 9:30 p.m. EDT, with oddsmakers listing this game as a pick’em on the NHL odds and the over-under at six.
Golden Knights vs. Ducks NHL Betting Odds
The Ducks return home on Thursday and they hold a 4-1 record in the post-season on home ice. Goals have come in bunches for Anaheim at home too, as they have tallied 22 goals across their five home playoff outings. Vegas comes in having four of their last five road outings hitting the over as well, and four of their last five in Anaheim finishing over too. Brett Howden is tied for the Vegas lead with seven goals these playoffs and is +320 to record an anytime goal in Game 6.
The Golden Knights are now -450 to win the series, with the Ducks comeback odds at +350.
Vegas Golden Knights
Tomas Hertl is alive and it’s no coincidence this Golden Knights team is succeeding off of it. After going without a goal in 29 straight games, Hertl has scored in back-to-back outings for Vegas. With captain Mark Stone still injured (and his Game 6 status uncertain), the Golden Knights need more depth scorers stepping up and Hertl is now doing so. Pavel Dorofeyev continues to shine too, netting two goals in Game 5 including the overtime winner.
As far as lineup changes, the NHL has suspended defenceman Brayden McNabb for one playoff game for his interference on Anaheim’s Ryan Poehling. Kaedan Korczak is McNabb’s likely replacement. And to no surprise, Carter Hart will be in between the pipes for Vegas. Hart is 7-4 in the playoffs with a .912 save percentage.
Anaheim Ducks
There’s no doubt about it — Anaheim’s top players need to contribute in these next potential two games against Vegas. Leo Carlsson in particular has just two points in the series, and zero in his last two games. And Cutter Gauthier remains without a goal this series, but does have five assists over his last two games. Home ice should be an advantage for these two and the rest of the Ducks, but the pressure is now on with their season on the line.
Beckett Sennecke is on the other hand red hot, scoring in four straight games. The 20-year-old now leads Anaheim with five goals in the playoffs. Sennecke is skating alongside Alex Killorn and Mikael Granlund, so look for that line to produce in Game 6. Lukas Dostal remains the projected starter in net for Anaheim, despite an .878 save percentage in the playoffs.
