Toronto Raptors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction, NBA Odds
Another one-game trip for the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night, and it’s a tough one as they visit Minnesota, which is capable of winning the Western Conference. The Timberwolves are -6 on the NBA odds with a total of 227.5.
Raptors vs. Timberwolves NBA Betting Odds
It seems about one-third of the NBA is tanking this season, but the Minnesota Timberwolves are proving that strategy can work well in the league. The 2019-20 club was one of the league’s worst, but it won the draft lottery and selected guard Anthony Edwards out of Georgia.
That has worked wonders as “Ant” has turned into a top five player in the league and quite possibly its best American. Edwards may well win an MVP someday and should be the lead dog for Team USA men’s basketball in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. There were some growing pains in Edwards’ rookie season, but Minnesota has since made the playoffs four seasons running, losing in the Western Conference Finals each of the past two. I don’t rule out the Wolves winning the West this year at the longer-shot price of +1400, but they are a slight tier below Oklahoma City, Denver and San Antonio.
This concludes the season series with the Wolves eyeing the sweep as they prevailed, 128-126, at Scotiabank Arena on Feb. 4 as 2.5-point favourites (total was 228.5). Edwards scored 13 of his 30 points in the fourth when Minnesota outscored Toronto by 12 to rally.
Even with that loss, the Raptors are 6-4 SU and 8-2 ATS in the past 10 overall. The over-under is 4-6.
Toronto Raptors
The Dinos lost for the third time in four games Tuesday, 113-95 at home to the Knicks in a possible Eastern Conference playoff preview. Of late, Toronto is taking care of the bad teams but losing to the good ones. Brandon Ingram had 31 points and RJ Barrett 20 vs. the Knicks. The Raptors were dominated on the boards and in points in the paint. It was Ingram’s ninth game this season with at least 30, tying Gary Trent Jr. for third-most such games in their first season as a Raptor.
Immanuel Quickley had 13 points and 12 assists for his eighth double-double of the season. He has had consecutive double-double performances for the first time since Jan. 3, 2025. Perhaps getting away from home is the ticket as Toronto has lost four in a row at Scotiabank Arena but taken its past three away. Rookie first-round pick Collin Murray-Boyles has missed the past two with a thumb injury and is questionable. So is Ingram with an apparent left thumb sprain that seems to have popped out of nowhere. The Dinos are 6-2 ATS in their past eight vs. the West.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Minnesota won for the fourth straight time and seventh in the past eight on Tuesday, 117-110 over a bad Memphis club. Star Anthony Edwards, the reigning Western Conference Player of the Week, was in some question with minor injuries but played and had 41 points. It was his ninth 40-point game of the season. Guard Ayo Dosunmu contributed 14 points off the bench. He was Minnesota’s sneaky-good trade acquisition at the deadline from Chicago.
The Timberwolves appear fully healthy and this is not part of a back-to-back so everyone of note should play. They are 19-1 when allowing fewer than 110 points this season and 36-3 when shooting a better percentage from the field than their opponent. Minnesota is 1-5 ATS in its past six overall and 2-5 ATS in its past seven at home in this series.
