The defending Super Bowl champions look for their first preseason win Friday, when the Seattle Seahawks visit the Kansas City Chiefs at 8 p.m. ET.
Seattle is coming off a franchise-best 14-3 season that culminated in a dominant 29-13 victory over the Patriots, securing its second Super Bowl title. However, the Seahawks are 0-2 this preseason after losses to Dallas and at Tennessee.
The Chiefs are also 0-2 this preseason after dropping games against the Rams and at Tampa Bay. The NFL’s dominant franchise the past decade came back to Earth last year, going 6-11 and missing the playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
This line has switched a lot over the past few days. After starting as an underdog on the NFL odds, the visiting Seahawks are now -2.5 favourites with a -135 moneyline, while the Chiefs sit at +115. The total is listed at 35.5 points.
Seattle is 0-2 against the spread this preseason, while Kansas City is 1-1 ATS. The under has hit in all four games involving these teams. Seattle lost 17-7 to Dallas and blew a 16-3 lead in a 19-16 loss at Tennessee. Meanwhile, the Chiefs dropped a 20-12 decision to the Rams and lost 16-15 at Tampa Bay.

This year’s Hard Knocks representatives on HBO have taken a couple of hard knocks to their depth recently. Second-year guard Mason Richman was just placed on injured-reserve, and fourth-year wide receiver Jake Bobo suffered a season-ending torn ACL during a joint practice with Tennessee.

Kansas City Chiefs
We will have to wait just a little while longer to see the two-time league MVP, as Patrick Mahomes will not play in this one while he continues his recovery from the knee injury that ended his 2025 season. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid sounds confident Mahomes will be ready for Week 1.
Backup Justin Fields is also unlikely to play, leaving seventh-round rookie Garrett Nussmeier to start. Chris Oladokun could split the game with Nussmeier if he clears concussion protocol.
Nussmeier is 22-of-36 for 172 yards this preseason and has not thrown a touchdown or interception through two games. Most recently, he completed just nine of his 17 passes for 74 yards in Saturday’s loss to Tampa Bay.
Kansas City has scored just one touchdown in two preseason games, but the defence has allowed only 36 total points.
Former Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III, the MVP of Super Bowl 60, is unlikely to face his old team after missing practice time this week with a swollen ankle.
