Ottawa Senators vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction, NHL Odds
It was a quiet night with no NHL games on U.S. Thanksgiving, but the action is back with a massive 15-game slate for Black Friday. Part of that slate is a matchup between the Ottawa Senators and St. Louis Blues. This is the first of two matchups this season, and should give us fireworks tonight.
A thriving Senators team currently sits second in the Atlantic Division, while the Blues have won just one game since November 11 and are seventh in the Central Division. How will this one play out? Here is our Senators vs. Blues prediction and preview.
Ottawa is a slim -118 favourite to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 5.5.
Senators vs. Blues NHL Betting Odds
The Ottawa Senators and St. Louis Blues play twice per season as intra-conference opponents. Things have been tight lately, but dating back to 2016, the Blues have dominated at 11-5-0.
Ottawa is 9-14 on the puckline this season, while St. Louis is 10-14. As for the over/unders, the Sens are 12-10-1 to the over, while the Blues are 11-13-0.
Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators have performed well as of late, posting a 7-2-3 record in their last five games. Their only two regulation losses came at the hands of the steady Los Angeles Kings, with a couple of one-goal wins. They are earning much-needed points and are gunning for first in the Atlantic Division.
While they were missing captain Brady Tkachuk, who returns to the lineup on Friday, they have still done well and have been quite healthy. The only health concerns for this one are Thomas Chabot and Ridly Greig, who are day-to-day.
If Ottawa can take home this game, they will continue to sit pretty as they push the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are currently in first in the division. I am sure they know this, and should be highly motivated to beat this vulnerable team.
St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues have had a rough go as of late. They have just one win in their last seven games. In 13 games in November, they have just four victories. This poor play has them seventh in the Central Division and 14th in the Western Conference.
The team is healthy, but that clearly hasn’t meant anything on the ice. The same can be said for the home-ice advantage they have in this game, as they are 3-5-3 in their home building all season. The Blues are returning from a five-game road trip, which will be a positive boost to the team, but Ottawa will give them a tough challenge as they are highly skilled and playing great hockey.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Senators vs. Blues?
Ottawa is the road team in this game and I believe there is some disrespect within the odds to have this game as a coin flip. These teams have been going in opposite directions this season, and to be frank, only the Senators have anything to play for. They have been great of late at 7-2-3, and are riding high morale and momentum. I see them taking this one 4-1 against a Blues team that just can’t figure it out.
