Browns vs. Lions Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction
We have a compelling NFL Week 4 matchup on our hands on Sunday, as the Cleveland Browns head to Detroit to take on the Lions at Ford Field. This game has plenty of storylines, most notably that the Lions suddenly look like one of the best teams in football again, following a pair of impressive victories over the Bears and Ravens.
As for Cleveland, the Browns defence has been elite, leading them to a 13-10 upset win against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3, but Joe Flacco and the offence have struggled mightily en route to a 1-2 record.
With Cleveland hoping to pull off another upset and Detroit hoping to keep its momentum going, which side will come out on top in this Week 4 clash? It’s almost time to find out.
The Lions are heavy 9.5-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 44.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
This is one of the largest spreads on the card this week, as the Browns are 9.5-point underdogs against the Lions. Given the offensive shortcomings that Cleveland has, it’s not a surprise that this total is in the mid-40s in this game.
The Browns are 2-1 against the spread this season, while their games are also 2-1 to the Under. On the other side, the Lions are also 2-1 against the spread this season, with the Over cashing in two of the three Detroit games.
Jared Goff has looked spectacular through three weeks, and you can bet him to record 2+ passing touchdowns at -115 odds, while this same market is +210 for Flacco.
Cleveland Browns
While they were expected to be among the worst teams in football heading into the campaign, the Browns have honestly put together a couple of pretty decent data points through the first three weeks. Not only could they have beaten the Bengals to open the season, but Cleveland also did a very solid job against the Ravens’ excellent offence, particularly when it came to limiting Derrick Henry’s production on the ground.
The problem in Cleveland has been the offence, but Joe Flacco and company did just enough to capitalize on the mistakes from Jordan Love and the Packers en route to a 13-10 upset victory at home last weekend. However, this week presents a much bigger challenge for Kevin Stefanski’s group.
Detroit Lions
The Lions looked to be dead in the water following their Week 1 disaster loss against the Packers. Detroit has shown great resilience in bouncing back, most notably in an excellent win over the Ravens on Monday Night Football to close out Week 3.
The Detroit offence has averaged a whopping 37 points per home game since last season, and while that might not continue over into Sunday’s contest, there is a pretty established high floor for Jared Goff and the Lions offence at this point.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Browns vs. Lions?
Dan Campbell is not the coach that you want to fade as a significant favourite at home, and I can’t see the Lions taking their foot off the gas in a spot where they should be in the lead from the opening quarter. On the other side, I don’t see Cleveland keeping up, seeing as the Browns rank near the bottom of the NFL in adjusted EPA per play.
All things considered, I am rolling with Detroit to win as significant home favourites in Week 4, and we can expect this to be a solid, mostly convincing victory from the Lions at home. Detroit should win this one 27-17.
