Eagles vs. Buccaneers Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction

It will be a potential NFC Championship preview when the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon in Week 4 of the NFL season. Both teams arrive undefeated at 3-0, although it has not been easy. Philadelphia blocked a field goal on the final play of the game – and returned it for a touchdown to cover the spread – preserving a victory over the Rams this past weekend. Tampa Bay has picked up its three wins by a combined total of six points.

The Buccaneers have won six of the last seven head-to-head meetings, including two in the playoffs. They rolled 32-9 in the Wild Card round two seasons ago before dominating the Eagles 33-16 during the 2024 regular season.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Opening NFL odds for this Week 4 battle had the Eagles listed as 3.5-point favourites with a 43.5-point total.

The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five games dating back to last season and 7-2 ATS in their previous nine. The Buccaneers are 8-5 ATS in their latest 13 overall. In addition to being 6-1 straight up in the past seven head-to-head showdowns dating back to 2015, Tampa Bay is also 5-2 ATS during this stretch. Meanwhile, the Over is 5-3 in the last eight encounters between these two teams and also 5-3 in Tampa Bay’s previous eight games.

In addition to the more traditional lines, the first-quarter spread is -0.5 in Philadelphia’s favour, and the first-half spread is -1.5. On the prop-betting front, both Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley of the Eagles are -145 to score a touchdown. Bucky Irving (+120) is the most likely Buccaneer to find the end zone.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia is banged up on the defensive side of the ball. Linebacker Nolan Smith Jr. is on injured reserve, and fellow LB Nakobe Dean also won’t play on Sunday. LBs Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell are questionable, along with cornerback Adoree’ Jackson. Baun, Campbell, and Jackson all missed practice on Wednesday.

On the other side of the ball, the Eagles are a run-heavy team. However, the Buccaneers are sixth in the NFL against the run and fifth in yards per rushing attempt allowed (3.6). Receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith may have to get more involved than they were during the first three weeks.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Don’t be fooled by Baker Mayfield’s questionable tag. The red-hot quarterback is among the toughest players in the game; anything less than a crippling injury won’t keep him out of such a big game. Limited participation in Wednesday’s practice points to Mayfield playing this weekend. However, he likely won’t be throwing the ball to Mike Evans – the veteran WR is doubtful with a hamstring issue.

Running back Bucky Irving could be in line for a big day at the office. Philadelphia is fifth in the NFL in yards per pass attempt allowed (5.7), but its run defence has struggled – 133.3 yards per game allowed on 5.1 yards per attempt. With their linebacker corps dealing with a ton of injuries, things could get even worse for the Eagles when they try to contain Irving.

Who Will Win Eagles vs. Buccaneers?

The Buccaneers have been playing with fire. They got away with it against three entirely unspectacular opponents in the first three games, but now they have to face the defending Super Bowl champions. Home-field advantage may not be enough to tip the scales in Tampa Bay’s favour against a superior opponent. Let’s go with Eagles 23, Buccaneers 20.
