Two teams who put forth very different Week 1 performances are set to meet on Sunday when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium in Denver.
The Jaguars made light work of the Browns in Week 1, winning 34-10 in a game that was never in doubt. Trevor Lawrence threw four touchdown passes and the Jacksonville defence held Cleveland to 272 total yards.
The Broncos played on Monday night against the Chiefs in Kansas City, and lost 31-10. The offence couldn’t get anything going, as Denver accumulated just 176 total yards in the game.
The Jaguars won the most recent meeting 34-20 in Denver last December 21.

Sean Payton is no longer calling plays for the Denver offence, and new offensive coordinator Davis Webb had a rough first game as play-caller. He has a tough assignment on his hands in this one, as the Jaguars allowed the fewest points in the NFL during the second half of last season and put forth a dominant showing in Week 1 against the Browns.
Jacksonville’s offence is off to a hot start this season. The Jaguars raced out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, with Lawrence completing 18 of his 23 pass attempts for 245 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions.

Lawrence was extremely efficient in the season opener, as he completed 78.3 per cent of his pass attempts on the day. However, he now hits the road to face a much tougher defence in Week 2. The Broncos had one of the best passing defences in the NFL last season, and their secondary remains strong. Lawrence’s efficiency may dip in this one, which could lead to an increase in pass attempts.

Jaylen Waddle’s Broncos debut did not go as planned. He hauled in just a single catch for two yards in a game where Bo Nix struggled to find any sort of consistency. The Broncos went out and got Waddle for a reason, and he should be more involved in the passing game moving forward. After a rough opener, Waddle should be in line for a bigger workload, and in turn, more production in Week 2.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars took care of business in Week 1, and started the new season with a bang after winning 13 games a season ago. Travis Etienne is gone, and Bayshul Tuten has taken the reins of the Jacksonville backfield by running for 66 yards on 15 carries in the opener. Parker Washington is primed for a breakout campaign, as he hauled in five catches for 83 yards and a touchdown last week. Along with Brian Thomas Jr, Jakobi Meyers, and TE Brenton Strange, Lawrence has plenty of weapons to throw to.
Denver Broncos
After going all the way to the AFC Championship Game last season, the Broncos put forth a worrisome performance in Week 1. Nix was uncomfortable all night long, the defence didn’t generate much pressure on Patrick Mahomes, and Denver lost by three touchdowns. After such a rough showing, look for the Broncos to come out with an aggressive mindset in this contest. This is still a talented roster with plenty of potential, but it’s clear that the Broncos have plenty of issues to correct in a hurry.
