Alouettes vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction: CFL Week 16 Point Spread, Odds
The Alouettes are 5.5-point favourites on the CFL odds with a total of 60.5 points that is the lowest of the weekend.
CFL Week 16 Odds and Betting
Montreal actually lost ground in the East Division last week with its defeat at the B.C. Lions and Toronto winning at home against Ottawa. The Alouettes still have a three-game lead atop the East, however, are the only club in the league to have clinched playoff spot and are +190 Grey Cup favourites – which didn’t change with that Lions loss. Montreal puts its perfect 6-0 divisional record on the line here.
Hamilton has the second-worst record in the league at 4-9 but is comfortably third in the East, 3.5-games up on winless Ottawa. The Ticats are 3-4 at home and +5000 longshots to win the Grey Cup.
This concludes the season series with Montreal winning 30-27 in overtime away in the season opener and then prevailing 31-18 at home in July. The Ticats appeared to have the opener in the bag, leading 24-10 midway through the third. In the OT, defensive back Kabion Ento delivered the decisive play for Montreal by recovering a Hamilton fumble. Shortly after, José Maltos Díaz connected on the game-winning field goal.
Montreal Alouettes
Montreal was a 2.5-point underdog last Saturday at B.C. in the second straight game between the teams and the Als lost, 48-29. The Alouettes seem to never play well there and fell behind 17-0 fairly quickly. That was pretty much that. CFL Most Outstanding Player favourite Davis Alexander (-210) didn’t have his best game, throwing threw for 242 yards with two touchdowns and a pick. The interception ended a streak in which Alexander went 108 attempts without getting picked off. Defensive back Kabion Ento left in the first half with lower-body injury in the first half and didn’t return, and returner DeVonte Dedmon was carted off the field injured. No word yet on them. Montreal is winless at BC Place since 2015. The over is 4-1 in the Alouettes’ past five road games.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Hamilton was the one team off last week and has dropped three in a row following a 37-22 home loss to Toronto in Week 14. “It was a three-phase loss quite honestly,” coach Scott Milanovich said. “Special teams put us in a hole a few times with field position, the defence didn’t get off the field in 2nd-down-and-long, and the offence didn’t do well enough to flip the field when they had us pinned.” Frankly, the season went down the tubes in the third quarter of a Week 5 loss to Winnipeg when back-to-back Most Outstanding Player runner-up and quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell was stretchered off with a serious ankle injury. He’s officially done for the year. Tre Ford has been starting, but he left the Week 14 loss to the Argos with a head injury to open the third quarter. Harrison Frost replaced him and was 16-of-28 passes for 214 yards with two TDs and an interception. Ford is questionable for this week or else it will be Frost under centre. The under is 7-2 in the Ticats’ past nine.
