Lions vs. Stampeders Prediction: CFL Week 16 Point Spread, Odds
The Calgary Stampeders can pull to within two points of the idle Saskatchewan Roughriders in the race for the top of the CFL West standings with a win on Friday, when they host the BC Lions in CFL Week 16 betting action.
The Stampeders enjoyed a bye last week after dropping a 31-19 decision in Edmonton two weeks ago, but have tallied three straight victories on home turf at McMahon Stadium and surrendered an average of just 11 points over their past two home dates.
The Lions travel to Cowtown after snapping a two-game slide with last week’s 38-27 rout of the visiting Ottawa RedBlacks but continue to ride a two-game losing streak on the road.
The Stampeders are perched as 5.5-point favourites on the CFL Week 16 odds, while the Lions lag as +200 CFL moneyline underdogs, and the total is pegged at 54.5.
CFL Odds and Betting

Friday’s clash marks the first of two regular season meetings between these CFL West rivals. While the Stampeders earned a narrow 25-24 win in last season’s home date with BC, they have largely struggled when facing the Lions, falling to defeat in eight of 11 matchups since the start of the 2022 CFL campaign including a trio of outright losses as home chalk.
With the Stamps averaging just 19 points per game, the UNDER has paid out in three straight head-to-head contests. That trend extends to Calgary’s recent outings, with the UNDER going 8-3 in their past 11.
Conversely, there has been plenty of scoring in recent contests featuring the Lions. BC has scored an average of 34.6 points per game during a middling 3-4 SU run, with the OVER paying out in each of those contests. However, the Lions have also been lit up for and average of 41.3 points over their past three road dates.
BC Lions
Fans of high-scoring CFL football have been in for a treat when the Lions hit the gridiron. While the team has scored at least 33 points in seven straight outings, they have consistently struggled to shut down opposing offences.
With the Stamps scoring over 29 points per game during their current 3-0-0 run at home, the pressure will be on Nathan Rourke to turn in another big performance. The Lions quarterback has tossed for an average of 325 yards with eight total TDs over the past four games, but has found the end zone just twice over the past two weeks and should be backed on the CFL player props as a -115 bet to connect for UNDER 1.5 touchdowns on Friday.
However, Rourke’s mobility makes him a constant threat to carry the ball, which he may need to leverage against a ferocious Stamps defence that has recorded four sacks in each of the past four games.
Calgary Stampeders
The Stampeders enter Week 16 sporting a league-leading 6-1-0 record against divisional opponents, and there is plenty reason to expect them to improve on that on Friday night. Well rested and eager to atone to their Week 14 defeat in Edmonton, the Stamps will be aiming to turn in a third straight stifling performance at home, where they have allowed an average of just five points in the first quarter during their 3-0-0 run and just 18 points per game over their past six appearances.
However, a growing list of injuries could be a concern for this club. A total of 11 players have been limited or absent from practice this week, including receiver Jalen Philpot while at least six members of the Stamps defence will miss Friday’s contest due to injury.
However, Vernon Adams appears poised to build on his last two outings, during which he tossed five total TDs and should be backed as a -155 wager to connect for OVER 1.5 touchdown passes on Friday.
