Patriots vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 2 Odds, Prediction
We have a compelling NFL Week 2 matchup on our hands on Sunday, as the New England Patriots will head to Miami to take on the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in South Florida. This game is filled with storylines, most notably that the Dolphins look poised for a disastrous season following their embarrassing loss to the Colts in Week 1. As for New England, the Patriots entered this season with renewed hype and expectations following a four-win campaign in 2024, but Drake Maye and company looked to be stuck in the mud in their season-opening loss against the Raiders in Week 1.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Patriots are 1.5-point road underdogs on the Week 2 NFL odds board, sitting at +100 on the money line, while the Dolphins are -120 favourites at home. The total (or over/under) is sitting at 43.5. Elsewhere, the Patriots are a half-point underdog in the first half with slight juice (-125), while the Dolphins are +100 to hold a lead at halftime.
New England Patriots
The Patriots underwent a very busy offseason, hiring Mike Vrabel to replace Jerod Mayo at the head coaching spot. The Patriots also brought in a couple of players at the skill positions in hopes of raising the ceiling of this offense in Maye’s second season under center. The season-opening loss to Las Vegas was discouraging, but Sunday’s game against the Dolphins represents a chance for New England to bounce back. It remains to be seen if those offseason additions will move the needle, but Vrabel’s group should at least be a well-coached side this fall.
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins had a lot of negativity surrounding them during the offseason, and through the first Week of games, it’s easy to see why. Tua Tagovailoa looks completely lost at the quarterback position, Tyreek Hill is clearly frustrated (and now embroiled in a domestic assault controversy), and the defence appears to have fallen off a cliff, particularly up front. That doesn’t bode well against a Patriots team that should be a lot more successful this week if Maye has a bit more time to throw in the pocket.
Who Will Win Patriots vs. Dolphins?
These teams are pretty different in terms of style and philosophy, and for that reason, I have to look at backing the better coach and defence in this game. While New England did struggle a week ago, conditions were not ideal for offense, and I’m higher than the market on Geno Smith and the Raiders this season, so it was not a surprise that Las Vegas secured that victory. This time around, the Patriots defence should have an easier task at hand, and the New England offense should take advantage of a bad and disengaged Miami defense. Roll with New England to pull off the small upset on the road in Week 2 and expect a 27-24 Patriots win.
