Seahawks vs. Steelers Point Spread: NFL Week 2 Odds, Prediction

This game has plenty of storylines, most notably that the Steelers looked fantastic on offence in their Week 1 victory over the Jets. As for Seattle, the Seahawks defence was rock solid in their Week 1 contest against the 49ers, but Sam Darnold and the offence struggled to get anything going and turned the ball over late in a demoralizing 17-13 loss.

With Seattle looking to bounce back and Pittsburgh hoping to keep its momentum going, which side will come out on top in this Week 2 clash? It’s almost time to find out.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Seahawks are road underdogs, sitting at +130 on the money line, while the Steelers are -155 favourites at home. The total (or over/under) is sitting at 40, while the Seahawks are listed at -115 to cover the three-point spread on the road.

Elsewhere on the NFL betting odds, the Seahawks are a 1.5-point underdog in the first half at -110 odds, while the Steelers are -110 to hold a lead at halftime.

Seattle Seahawks

Heading into the season, there was plenty of optimism surrounding the Seahawks defence and for good reason. After all, head coach Mike Macdonald has a strong defensive background and is looking to transform a unit that was struggling mightily before he got there.

To his credit, Macdonald appears to be successful on that front, as the Seahawks defence was stout in Week 1. The issue is on the other side of the ball, where Darnold was not protected well, and the ground game really sputtered, registering just 84 yards. It remains to be seen if that will continue into this week.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have long been known for being a defence-first operation in the Mike Tomlin era, but Pittsburgh surprised the football world with its offensive explosion against the Jets in Week 1. Time will tell if that was a sign of things to come, or just a one-off occurrence, but the Steelers might have a rejuvenated Rodgers at the controls this season, which bodes well for the offence.

Defensively, we know Tomlin is always going to field a solid unit, which gives us optimism that the Jets’ offensive performance in Week 1 might’ve just been a blip on the radar.

NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Seahawks vs. Steelers?

While I was initially looking to back Seattle in a clear bounce-back spot, the Seahawks offence worries me against Pittsburgh’s defence, particularly when it comes to the Seattle offensive line. This unit struggled with handling pressure on late downs against San Francisco, and it will really be tested against T.J. Watt and the Steelers’ defensive front. As for Pittsburgh’s offence, there is a path for success against the Seattle secondary, as we saw in the fourth quarter of the Seahawks’ loss to the 49ers. As long as the Steelers can establish anything on the ground, it should lead to Rodgers and company taking advantage in the play-action game and finding a few key chunk plays.

All things considered, I am rolling with Pittsburgh to win as small home favourites in Week 2, and we can expect this to be a close, low-scoring affair at Heinz Field. The Steelers should win this one 21-17.
