The 2025 Masters: PGA Tour Betting Odds

The Masters isn’t the oldest golf tournament in the world, doesn’t have the deepest field nor the biggest purse. But it’s the event the vast majority of golfers want to win more than any other as the first major championship of the season tees off Thursday from Augusta National with defending champion Scottie Scheffler favoured on the golf odds.

A reminder if you are a new golf bettor that what is different about the Masters from the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and British Open – some Europeans might prefer to win the  Claret Jug than the green jacket at the Masters – is that it is played annually at Augusta National while the other three majors rotate courses.

And only in the majors will we see the LIV Golf guys (who qualified) compete against PGA Tour pros as we await some kind of merger between those Tours. We have been waiting for a couple of years now and things still aren’t close. A total of 12 LIV golfers are set to tee it up. No player has won the Masters while on the LIV Tour but a handful of guys with LIV now have won a green jacket in the past.

Sadly, no Tiger Woods this year as he recently had surgery to repair a torn Achilles’ tendon that will surely keep him out all of 2025, although Tiger last week did have a good April Fool’s Joke on social media by declaring an amazing recovery and that he would play. While Woods probably will play at Augusta as long as his body allows, and previous winners have a lifetime exemption, his days of winning here are finished with five titles, one shy of Jack Nicklaus’ record. Tiger did make the cut last year for a tournament-record 24th consecutive time but finished dead last.

Another former champion, 62-year-old Hall of Famer Vijay Singh, withdrew Monday and will not play in the tournament for the first time since making his debut in 1994. This is the 25-year anniversary of Singh’s victory at the Masters. The field is 95 players, still the largest since 97 in 2015.

Scheffler is the defending champion as he joined an exclusive club with two green jackets (along with 2022) as he shot an 11-under 277 to finish four up on second-place Ludvig Aberg. Scheffler was just 1 under on Friday-Saturday but shot 6 under in Round 1 and 4 under in the fourth round.  His wife, Meredith, was home in Dallas expecting their first child. Then 27, Scheffler became the fourth-youngest player to have two green jackets. The last repeat winner was Tiger in 2002.

Augusta National is a par 72 at approximately 7,555 yards. There were no overall changes planned from last year but a few minor modifications had to be made in the wake of Hurricane Helene in 2024. The course definitely lost some trees in that.

I leaned Xander Schauffele as the individual play in 2024, and he finished eighth, but our top play was an  American at -135 vs. the field and that cashed. Only one of last 15 champions has been ranked higher than 25th in the world and 11 of the past 15 were ranked in the Top 12. World golf rankings don’t really apply with LIV guys.

The Masters Golf Odds

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the +450 favourite, which is the shortest odds of any player to win the Masters since Tiger Woods in 2013. Hard to go argue against that price as Scheffler has won this event two of the past three years – but looking for his first 2025 victory.

An annual Masters storyline nowadays is Rory McIlroy (+650) trying for the career grand slam, which only Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Nicklaus and Woods have accomplished. Rory hasn’t won a major title of any kind since 2014 when he won both the British Open and PGA Championship. But he’s off to a great 2025 start with two victories.

Colin Morikawa (+1400) has three straight Top 10s as the Masters after a career-best T3 in 2024. He has been Top 20 in all five PGA Tour events this year with two second-place finishes. Spain’s Jon Rahm (+1400) has that 2023 Masters win and the second-best scoring average all-time (minimum of 25 rounds) of 70.97 at Augusta behind 2015 winner Jordan Spieth (+3000) at 70.95.

Bryson DeChambeau (+1600) and Ludvig Aberg (+2000) round out the favourites with both looking for their first green jacket. DeChambeau won his second U.S. Open in 2024 and finished T6 at last year’s Masters, his first Top 20 at Augusta. Aberg was second here a year ago in his tournament debut.

Mike Weir is the lone Canadian to win this tournament (and a rare lefty overall to capture the Masters), doing so in a 2003 playoff over Len Mattiace. George Knudson was one of three runners-up to George Archer in 1969. Corey Conners was the top finisher last year at T38, while Adam Hadwin was T53. Weir and Nick Taylor missed the cut. Conners is +5000 this year and the -120 leader as top Canadian. Taylor Pendrith is +12500 to win and +220 as top Canadian with Nick Taylor +25000/+400 and Weir +2000000/+2800.

The Masters Golf Predictions

We simply like an American again this year priced -125 vs. the field (+100). USA players have won seven straight majors overall, the longest such streak in decades.
